One of Ai Arakawa's favourite cities in Japan is Nagoya.  She says it is a city with great history and she enjoys visiting it with her present boyfriend, (who she calls "Mui-Mui").

With more than two million citizens, Nagoya is Japan's fourth most inhabited city. It is the capital of Aichi Prefecture and the head metropolis of the Nobi plain, one of Honshu's three great plains and industrialized centers.

Nagoya originated as the castle town of the Owari, one of the three offshoots of the dominating Tokugawa family during the Edo Period. A good deal of the city, including the majority of its historic edifices, were destroyed in the air raids of 1945.
