Japanese Hair Straightening
76The technique originated In Japan around 12 years ago, there are now two main providers these are Yuko systems and Liscio Thermal. Each of the two have separate patents on their techniques providing a unique process for straightening the hair, both formulated from the original techniques. Both these are the leaders in providing the education, techniques and products and should be considered the global leaders in the field.
The technique of Japanese hair straightening uses heat to help restructure the bonds in your hair, thus making your hair straighter, shinier, glossier and smooth. Often the technique will be referred to as the Yuko system or thermal reconditioning/restructuring. The process has a permanent affect on the hair however people will look to reuse the technique every 12 months to touch up on any hair re-growth. The process is lengthy and can take anywhere between two to eight hours depending on the length of you hair, type and the condition. Initially the stylist will assess the condition and hair type before washing your hair. After the hair has been towel dried the hair will be divided into sections and then a formula and protector will be applied. These products will remain on the hair for at least fifteen to twenty minutes before a hair flat iron is used to straighten the hair.
The straightening process involves several stages in order to get the final effect. Firstly the hair has a neutraliser applied, this will allow the hair to have the bonds reset and cause a stabilising effect. The products are left in the hair again for fifteen to twenty minutes depending on the texture of the hair, finally the hair is rinsed, blow dried and styled for the client. In order for you to protect your hair it is wise to not get your hair wet for at least forty eight hours after you have had the hair straightening technique applied. Also treat your hair more carefully than usual by not brushing too hard, pushing it behind your ears or using hair tie bands. Adding treatments to your hair is also not a good idea for the first couple of weeks after the treatment has been applied. There are a number of products available that you could use to maximise the results after you have used Japanese hair straightening, these however are not essential. If you are looking to use specialist shampoos or conditioners after the process then usually it would be recommended to use products that have been designed by the market leaders. Using these products will ensure that you are receiving the best follow up care for your hair.
