Born on 23rd November 1984, Jarah Mariano is of Hawaiian, Korean, and Chinese descent. She was discovered at the age of 15 by a model scout in Santa Monica, a city in western Los Angeles County, California. She moved to New York City after graduating from high school and attended Pace University as a full-time student but continued her modeling there. She was awarded a degree in Speech Communications with a Media Studies Concentration.
