Sun sets on Possible Granholm Presidency

Jennifer Granholm not native born

Jennifer Granholm, Governor of Michigan, was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1959. This unfortunate birth location disqualifies a very successful governor's bid for the position of President of the United States, as being native born is a requirement for the office of the President.

Evidently framers of the U.S. Constitution were concerned about a foreign born President being influenced by his/her birthland in an attempt to weaken or overthrow the government.

In 1787, John Jay wrote this to George Washington: "Permit me to hint, whether it would be wise and seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government; and to declare expressly that the Commander in Chief of the American army shall not be given to nor devolve on, any but a natural born Citizen."

The meaning of natural born Citizen was not defined within the Constitution, however the Naturalization Act of 1790 stated, "And the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond the sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens."

In neither instance does Jennifer Granholm have the least claim to being defined a natural born citizen, as her parents were not U.S. citizens. She became a U.S. Citizen in 1980.

Sorry Ralph :(

Granholm wears many hats

In the recent election, Granholm was asked to stand in for Sarah Palin, Vice Presidential candidate on the Republican ticket-- despite the fact that she was 5 years Palin's senior and serving her second term as Governor of a state with over 10 million people as opposed to Palen, in the midst of her first term as Governor of a state with nearly 700,000 constituents.

"Joe Biden asked Governor Granholm to consider taking such a prominent leadership role heading into Thursday's debate because she's a Governor who knows how to tackle tough challenges, she shares his roots in law enforcement, and she's a heck of a debater," Wade said.." And... well, they were both beauty queens!

Granholm was once mentioned as a possible Supreme Court justice candidate. After graduating from UC/Berkeley with two BAs (political science and French), she attended Harvard Law School, graduating with honors with a Juris Doctor degree. She clerked for U.S. Judge Damon Keith in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals and took a position as Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Michigan. In 1994, she was appointed Wayne County Corporation Counsel and in 1998, she was elected Michigan Attorney General.
