The gun used to kill actress Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew has, police believe, been located.

Police found the weapon during a search of a car park in Chicago close by where they found an abandoned car with the body of Julian King concealed inside. At this point in time the gun is being tested by forensics. It is thought that the bullets from the gun are the same as those shell casings found at the site of the murder.

Police also said that " small bits of evidence " were discovered in the bushes of the car park just around the corner from the car itself.

Darnell Donnerson, the mother of Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer's brother Jason were discovered in dead in their home in Chicago on Friday. In addition Jennifer Hudson's nephew, Julian, was missing and a reward of $100,000 was being offered for his return. However Julian's body was found on Monday in a Chevrolet on Chicago's West side. He too had been shot. The main suspect for these horrendous murders has refused to undergo a lie detector test said police.

William Balfour, the separated husband of Jennifer Hudson's sister, and stepfather of Hudson's nephew, reportedly told detectives he had no problem with the Hudson family however he is still refusing to take a polygraph test. Although Balfour is being held by the police in custody for a parole violation he has not been charged in the murders of the Hudson family. It is thought that he had an accomplice.

Balfour's mother, Michelle, has reported that Jennifer Hudson's mother expelled Balfour from the home a year ago. Further, she has said that her son has nothing to do with the murders.

William Balfour has been in prison for seven years previously on an attempted murder and vehicle hijacking.
