Jersey City Cheap Hotels

You probably found this page because you are looking for information relating to "cheap hotel Jersey City". You've come to the right place! (For a more extensive look, follow this link: Omaha Cheap Hotels Guide) One of the best ways to find Jersey City cheap hotels is through Priceline’s Name Your Own Price Service. For the year of 2008 Priceline came only second to Hotwire in terms of customer satisfaction, according to J.D. Power and Associates. For a comparison of the two services, check out Hotwire vs Priceline: A Comparison. To access Name Your Own Price simply go to Priceline.com. In the middle of the page you should see “name your own price® - get deeper discounts”. To bid for hotels for the Jersey City area, simply click the “bid now” button under the hotels picture. You will then have to type in Jersey City, along with your dates and the number of rooms you want. Once you enter your criteria you’ll notice that Priceline gives you 7 zones:
Elizabeth
Jersey City
Meadowlands – Rutherford
Newark - Newark Airport (EWR)
Secaucus - North Bergen
Short Hills - Summit
West Orange
If you click and unclick on each zone you’ll find the maximum star level within each zone. I’ve listed the zones again, this time, with their respective maximum star level.
Elizabeth: 3-Star Upscale
Jersey City: 4-Star Deluxe
Meadowlands – Rutherford: 31⁄2-Star Upscale-Plus
Newark - Newark Airport (EWR): 31⁄2-Star Upscale-Plus
Secaucus - North Bergen: 31⁄2-Star Upscale-Plus
Short Hills – Summit: 31⁄2-Star Upscale-Plus
West Orange: 21⁄2-Star Moderate-Plus
(you’ll know why I do this if you keep reading)
The basics of rebidding on Priceline for to find cheap hotels Jersey City NJ
In order to bid you have to select two things, your zone(s) and your minimum/chosen star level. As long as you keep your minimum star level constant and mess with the zones, you can get immediate rebids. How do you mess with the zones? Say you want to stay in the Short Hills zone and you want your hotel to be at least 31⁄2-Star Upscale-Plus (your chosen star level). Let’s pretend that your first bid is rejected. You can rebid again if you add a zone, which does not have your minimum/chosen star level. If your first bid for Short Hills fails, add West Orange for a total of 2 zones. Because your minimum star level is 31⁄2-Star Upscale-Plus there is no way you’ll end up staying in West Orange because its maximum star level is only 21⁄2-Star Moderate-Plus. You’ve used West Orange as your “dummy” zone to get an immediate rebid! It is very important that your chosen/minimum star level matches the highest star level on the zone you are bidding on. Otherwise you can’t get nearly as many rebids. Furthermore, bid higher each time, otherwise you are just wasting your rebids.
How to rebid for each of the 7 zones to find cheap hotels in Jersey City NJ
Here I explain how to rebid for all of the zones. Under each bid # I tell you which zones you should have checked. For some zones you can’t get many bids because they don’t have many “dummy” zones, which allow you to rebid. If you’re pretty flexible on which zone you can stay in, this doesn’t really matter because other zones have MANY rebids available. If your bidding for one zone does not work out, simply bid on another zone.
To get an idea of the winning bids other users have gotten under each zone and corresponding star level, check out betterbidding.com and biddingfortravel.com. This should give you a good idea of where to start your bid.
Also, although both sites talk about the permutation method which I use to help you, biddingfortravel.com has an “advanced rebidding”
post which places all the permutations in a logical order, thus making
you start a new bid every other bid rather than for most of the bids
(you’ll see what I mean once you start bidding yourself).
Elizabeth (with 3-Star Upscale as your chosen star level):
Bid 1) Elizabeth
Bid 2) Elizabeth+West Orange
For bid 2 you simply add the zone at the rejection screen.
Jersey City
Jersey City (with 4-Star Deluxe as your chosen star level)
For every odd numbered bid following bid #1 you’re going to have to start a new bid by clicking the Priceline logo at the top left hand corner of the rejection screen (check picture at end of article). For every even numbered bid you simply add the zone as shown in the picture below.

Jersey City, Meadowlands, Newark, Secaucus, or Short Hills
(with 31⁄2-Star Upscale-Plus as your chosen star level)
Substitute one of the 5 zones into letter “A” below.
1. A
2. A+Elizabeth
3. A+West Orange
4. A+West Orange+Elizabeth
For bid 2 you simply add the zone at the rejection screen. For bid 3, at the rejection screen, start all over by clicking the Priceline logo at the top left hand corner of the screen.
I’ve covered virtually every rebid you can do for all the zones. You can, of course, use lower chosen zones and get even more bids, but I see no reason to, considering that you can get amazing deals by bidding on the highest rated star level within each zone. You might have noticed that I can’t rebid under the West Orange zone. That’s because it is the zone with the lowest star level. There are no “dummy zones” available for it.
