Jill began her career starring in the BBC's Children's series Biker Grove at a fairly young age. She is perhaps most famous for her role as Kate Mitchell in Eastenders which she began in 2002 and ended in 2004, she was originally a police officer but fell in love with her criminal Phil Mitchell, they married, broke up and she opened a nail salon until she left without anyone really noticing.

After her appearance in Eastenders she appeared on the second series of Strictly Come Dancing with Darren Bennett. They won the competition by in the last round receiving a full 40 marks from the judges.Another dancing performance was done in-front of the queen at the royal variety performance December 14 2004 at the London Coliseum. In a one-off show in December 2004 the couple were pitted against the top of dancing couples of the two series's where they won once again and were crowned Champions Of Champions.

After her dancing success she played Roxie in the West End musical Chicago for three months followed by some fantastic christian aid charity work. Her success continued with various roles in British dramas such as Shameless, Waterloo Road and a guest appearance in The Catherine Tate Show.
