Job Interview - Interviewing Tips:

Any interview for any job is basically to evaluate your personality. Questions are asked about yourself, your goals, your interests, and reasons for considering the job/ professional etc and there could be questions on your professional background and awareness of the organization and its activities.

Interviewers generally focus on your introduction, why do you think you deserve the job, why do you wish to work here ,what are the skills, strengths and weaknesses you bring to the job and your employability skills in addition to desirable attributes which are job specific .

You may also have to take part in Group Discussion with topics that may be current but may also be in the form of case studies or role play.

You may also have to appear for a Psychometric Test that measures the mental skills, aptitudes and personality traits of people.

The first and foremost thing to keep in mind while going for an interview is that: you should be on time, be formally dressed and well groomed.

got me to a short fit of giggles when i saw the tip dont talk too much. So many times i have seen applicants trying to get friendly with the interviewers and talk to them as if they are old chums only to realize later they were not even shortlisted. hehe... But your tips here were 100% true no doubt about it. great hub as usual Guidebaba. thumbs up

Thank you ASHWINSPGA for your quick review and comments. I have myself failed in several interviews and then I learnt. Today I am the branch Manager for my Electronic Company. We all learn from mistakes.

I remember some of the interviews I endured when I owned my restaurant. People would tell me some of the most unusual things! One lady let me know that I was a nice man so she wouldn't punch my nose like she had done to her former boss! I took that as a "Don't call us; we'll call you." moment.

Ya, we need to beware of ladies. They can be dangerous at times.

In addition to your tips, I would add one more thing: be yourself. You'll be spending quite some time at work, so it's equally important that you enjoy the work and the environment. You don't want to put up a charade each day, so don't put one up to begin with. Good hub, Guidebaba.

I think all the tips are good but in the end there is no set rule and it is a bit of pot luck and depends on the personality, too, of the employer. Two jobs I got I believe I got because I was familiar and friendly with the interviewers, as a junior clerk little stands out among all of us but personal connection! :) I remember one interview the woman just wanting to chum up to me the whole time and even got her dog to lick me and told me if her dog liked me, it was sure sign I had a good chance at the job. We talked about her dog a lot, the next day she rang up and gave me the job. At another interview, the interviewer spent his time trying to find personal connections in my resume - did I choose the same school subjects as his dughter did? Did my previous employer sit on the board of a group that his previous employee whom he had liked belonged to? I spent the time in the interview gushing about how lovely that was and weren't they wonderful choices that only people with refined taste would choose. I got the job.
