Fountain House is a professional self-help program, operated by men and women recovering from mental illness, in collaboration with a highly professional and caring staff. The emphasis at Fountain House is on relationships – member to member, and member to staff. Members engage with each other to regain their productivity and self-confidence, resume their lives, and re-enter society. They take part, as well, in promoting their rights, and in erasing the stigma that often separates them from their neighbors.
The success of Fountain House in rehabilitating people with mental illness has been the inspiration of the worldwide clubhouse movement. As a practice in the power of human relationships, training at Fountain House is through hands-on experience. Training in the clubhouse model involves staff and mental health consumers living and working with the staff and members of Fountain House for an extended period of time.

Definition of a Disability
Both job seekers and employers should keep in mind that disabilities come in many forms. Not all disabilities are visible disabilities. For example, dyslexia, scoliosis, AIDS, diabetes, clubfoot, short stature, epilepsy and ADHD all fall under the category of disability. If you are unsure of whether you have a disability please see the ADA definition below or contact any one of your local disability organizations for assistance. ie. Goodwill, Easter Seals, UCP, EEOC etc.
