Jody Dean, a Man with a Voice

This hub is about an intelligent, talented man named Jody Dean. If you live in north Texas, you may very well recognize his name. He works at a morning show deejay on 98.7 KLUV, which plays Oldies music. Whether you listen every morning, or are just driving through and catch him and his morning team’s show, you will definitely enjoy it. Many people know Jody Dean from KLUV, but there is a whole lot more to know about this Music Hall of Famer.

His Early Beginnings

Jody was born in Fort Worth, Texas and would later go on to attend ACU, Abilene Christian University. When he was in college there, he enjoyed listening to the radio personality Ron Chapman on KVIL, a north Texas radio station. Ron Chapman has a profound impact on Jody. He graduated from ACU with a major in broadcast radio. He soon also started working on his television career on NBC 5. This was the beginning of what was going to be a great career.

Radio and Television

Starting off in radio, Jody Dean became a deejay for KVIL and then the producer for Ron Chapman and his radio show. He has worked at many big radio stations including KXOL in Fort Worth and KRLD in Dallas. Jody then moved over to the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network in 1991. He was the executive producer there.

Jody went back to television in 1997, working at CBS-11. Jody covered many important stories and interviewed many leaders, celebs, and politicians. He worked many years as a news anchor there until his calling brought him back to radio.

Jody was inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame in 2006.

Ron Chapman asked Jody if he wanted to take his place on 98.7 KLUV’s morning show. Jody stepped up to the plate and took it.

Jody has been working at KLUV since 2007 as a full-time morning show host.

98.7 KLUV Morning Show

Jody Dean and the Morning Team broadcast every weekday morning from 5-9am. They talk about serious or hilarious stuff. My favorite part of the show is a thing called ‘They Walk Among Us’ where Jody and the team tell of 3 or so stories of weird news or dumb things people have done. If you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, you should listen to their morning show on the way to work because it will surely put you into a good mood.

Today

Jody Dean has just recently been elected to be the announcer at the new Cowboys stadium in Arlington, Texas. He is a well-outspoken Christian man and speaker who enjoys fishing and cooking. He is married with 3 kids.
