John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This verse of scripture is probably the most well known scripture in the US and maybe even the world. It is so well known that a person merely has to say, "John 3:16," and most people know what it says. Knowing the words that are written and knowing the full meaning behind them is different. Although it is failry straightforward, there are hidden meanings in all scriptures that can only be seen in the spirit.

God did indeed love the world, and still does by the way. We cannot love God as much as He loves us. It isn't in us to love Him. God sent His son that we might believe in Him. God actually sent the best that he has to offer to us. He put His best  on this earth to walk as we walk and live as we live. Jesus was God poured into a sinful body of flesh. Even with being in the old sinful body, Jesus never sinned. This is why He is the perfect sacrifice for our sins.   

John 3:16 states that in order to not perish, we must believe in Jesus. This belief is essential to gain everlasting life according to the Word of God. Those who do not believe or refuse to believe, perish. To perish means to be made useless. I wonder how many of you reading this wants to be completely useless? Perish also means to be destroyed. Do you want to be destroyed?

God made a way when it seemed there was no way. No sacrifice men had made in history was really good enough for God, so he made His own sacrifice. Jesus is the sacrificial lamb that was slain and offered up to God for our sins. The nails that held him to the cross were as the horns of the altar which held the sacrifice and kept it from sliding off.

Don't you think it's time to stop fooling yourself? Who can love you like Jesus does? We can't even love God without His help. His spirit must be instilled in us in order to do good. The spirit of man is dead, without the breath of God. There is a simple little prayer that you can pray if you want to believe in Jesus and accept Him as your Savior. Pray it if you feel the urge to ask for help from the Lord, but only if you are sincere about it.

Prayer

God, I realize that I am sinful. I know I need someone to save me and keep me from perishing. I accept Jesus as my Savior and believe in Him. I confess my sins to you God. In Jesus name Amen.
