John Wayne Gacy

John Wayne Gacy lived from March 17, 1942 - May 10, 1994 and he was a Serial Killer from Chicago Illinois. Gacy was convicted and later executed for the rape and murder of 33 boys and young men, he actually buried 27 of them in a crawl space under the floor of his house, while others were found in nearby rivers and strip mall dumpsters, between 1972 and his arrest in 1978.

He became infamous as the "Killer Clown" because of the many cook outs he threw for his friends and neighbors. He loved entertaining children in a clown suit and makeup, under the name of "Pogo the Clown." He gave many people another reason to fear clowns. Gacy was also famous for his art work of which he did much and he gave a lot of it away. Many people destroyed it or threw it away when Gacy revealed he drew his victims in many of his drawings.

Also be sure you check out Gacys teeth in the photo of him here as Pogo the Clown. Can you say scary. But Gacy had everyone fooled. He had parties in his backyard for his neighbors while his victims lay buried in the crawl space under his house.

Information About John Wayne Gacy

It is a wide known fact that John Wayne Gacy Junior had a very bad and distant relationship with his alcholic father who called him names and was very cruel to his mother. John Wayne Gacy married in 1964 and it was also the year he had his first homosexual experience.

He and his wife moved to Waterloo Iowa where he managed a Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant that belonged to his wifes family. Gacys first marriage broke up after he was convicted of child molestation. He was however a model prisoner and he was paroled after only 18 months.

He moved back to Illinois where he hid his criminal record until it came out when he was caught for his murders. He bought a house in 1971 in northwest Chicago where he established his building contracting business. It was also about this same time that Gacy married a woman he had known since High School and she and her two daughters moved in with him. He started doing Pogo the Clown at Kid Parties about this time and he became involved in local politics eventually working his way up to precinct captain.

It was in this capacity that he was able to meet and get his photo made with the future Presidents wife Rosalynn Carter. After his arrest this caused great embarrasement for the secret service as they had given Gacy a special (S) pin he was wearing in the photo which meant the Secret Service had given him a high security clearance.

Murders By John Wayne Gacy

Gacy's marriage fell apart and his wife divorced him in mid-1976. Gacy was not investigated by the police again until December 12 1978 when police started asking him questions about the disappearance of 15 year old Robert Priest. The police were suspicious of Gacy at this time but really found nothing. The remains of Robert Priest were found under Gacys House in the crawl space after he was captured as a serial killer.

It is interesting to note here that its a matter of public record that neighbors had complained to Gacy and to the police about the awful smell that stayed around Gacys house. Some people wondered later how the police could have been in the house and not smelled the horrible odor in the house from the decaying bodies in the crawl space.

It was later revealed that Gacys victims were all male and ranged in age from age 9 to age 20. Gacy eventually revealed to Police Detectives the location of 28 of his victims. They were all buried in the crawl space under his house. The police took up the floor in their search of the house and the house was eventually torn down. Many people claim the location is currently haunted. People have claimed to see the ghost Gacy as Pogo the Clown and ghosts of the victims of Gacy.

He tried to get me to go with him in Sept.of 1972 at O'hara airport.I was a young army private on my way to Germany. He said to me,my car is outside and I can give you a job at my construction company as I was getting ready to board my plane. All I can say is thank you God for giving me the sense to know better!!! My prayers are with the familys who lost their loved ones,as I almost became one of his victims.I never realized this until many years later when I saw his pictures in the news.

I think that you people should take the time to actually read about the person you hate so much... he poor man was abused himself... resulting in borderline schitzophrenia and an antisocial behavioral disorder. no one understood that he was mentally ill. He did what he did because he was in severe need of attention and comfort... unfortunately, his outlet was those 33 murders.. my condolences go out to the victims' loved ones, but lso to the deceased mr. gacy who was truly "bon in a state of confusion"

John Wayne Gacy was sick and lured many unsuspecting young men to his home with hopes of landing a job or something else, only to be murdered.

My brother almost responded to one of his job ad's in the newspaper and thank god he did not.

Also my brother in law was traumatized, because he sat on his lap at a parade in des plaines illinois, and now he hates clowns.

I remeber the night that they announced the grusome discovery of 32 bodies underneath his house, and all i could think of was what kinda of monster could do something like that, and i did not sleep at all that night.

Too bad he sat in jail for 18 years at the taxpayers expense, and sold artwork from his jail cell, and married some monster as well, oh yea he found god too.

Im sure he found god when they put him to sleep forever.

When Gacy was executed in 1994, I received a petition from a group opposed to capital punishment, asking me to sign it. It was a request to the governor of Illinois to commute his senstence--something like that. I didn't sign it. That was just one cause I'd never want to sign up for. If there's going to be a death penalty at all--and I'mnot sure there should be--then it applies most to cases like Gacy's.

I just watched the movie about him the other day, and never knew a whole about him until then. I looked up his story online and am surprised at the fact that suspicions were never really raised when 2-3 of the boys working for him had disappeared at different times. I would think that alone would raise some red flags during an investigation of someone missing to find out 1-2 others disappeared and they just all happen to be working for the same person. I find that very suspicious and I haven't the slightest clue about investigating a case of any kind!

Wow... you people are STILL talking, bitching and moaning, and whatever else about something that happend in the PAST?!....dude.....GET OVER IT! LOL. He's dead, now be happy and worry about the loonies coming out of the tool sheds here in the good ol' present year of 2009! Yeah, this guy did a lot of messed up things, BUT, you have to look at his past too and how it caused him to become. he was human...It's actually our instincts to kill and be full of rage, but his situation was a bit more hyped up from all the screws loose in his brain. ANYWAYS, nice chattin. ROCK N' ROLL!

A guy in black car with Chicago inspector plaque on the dashboard asks me if I want a ride I say no thanks.Shrug and never think about it till fall when the papers put out the info. I figure damn I could be laying in crawl space right now. Guess I was one of the lucky ones.

Didn't think alot about it till I channel surfed onto the story about the hillside strangler. Thats whats lead me here.

There have always been serial killers. I think we all are intrigued and fascinated by them. By their motive, their mental history, etc. Serial killers are misunderstood alot though. Most people don't understand forensic psychiatry like I do. No, I never went to College, but I have read enough and researched on Forensic Psychiatry to know that in order to pass judgement on a person you need to know why, how, when and where basically. What was their childhood like, where they mistreated, abused, violent? Was drugs/alchol abuse prevalent? Their socialization process? These things and more have a lot to do with Serial killer's minds. Yes, they commit atrocities that we don't comprehend. Many people, including mentally sane, lose their sanity at some point, even though they may never had any mental problems beforehand, commit serious crimes. You can't always say normal people don't commit crimes.
