Journey, Revelation of Arnel Pineda

The definition of revelation is "a striking disclosure, as of something not before realized". The legendary rock band Journey, has disclosed something...something wonderful for the long awaiting fans in their newest album release Revelation, a double album that features a full selection of new music, a newly recorded greatest hits album, and a live concert DVD featuring their new Lead Singer Arnel Pineda.
Pineda was discovered by Lead Guitarist Neal Schon while searching Journey related videos on YouTube. His discovery of a Filipino Band Called, The Zoo, which featured Pineda covering such Journey hits as Open Arms, and Lights with an uncanny vocal likeness of the great Steve Perry, Schon contacted the videographer and soon Pineda was auditioning to be a member of the band.
While he does a phenomenal job on the classic Journey songs he brings a certain style that is all his to the entire album. Even in the band portrait on the album jacket where the existing members' breakout their hardcore rocker faces Pineda's beaming smile can not be concealed. Nor should it be. It will be very reflective of the thousands of Journey fans who have waited for the band to hit their stride again and start making music to be excited about.
The rain soaked concert in the Orlando Citrus Bowl during their Frontiers tour was the first time I saw Journey live and I was blown away with their performance. I saw them just a few years back in Atlanta with singer Steve Augeri where I was just happy to see the band playing again, but Revelations is true to its name, and is definetly "something not before realized", the talent of Arnel Pineda and the tremendous staying power of Journey.
Thank you to Neal, Jonathan, Ross, Deen and Arnel!
