Journey to 1000

I joined HP on 14 April 2009 and on 13 may 2009, my page hits have reached 1000. To be really honest I did not expect to reach this milestone so fast. I thought it will take me some 2-3 months to reach 1000 mark but to get there in  29 days, it feels great.

To say that Iam not hooked on to hubpages will be a big lie. Right from the day that I joined and posted my first article i.e. on 14/4/2009, I have loved each and every moment over here. I have been writing since 2 years on blogspot but mostly my readers were my friends. But over here its like a community encouraging and supporting the fellow writers which is fantastic.

Hubpages is like an ocean with so much to be discovered. The amount of articles that I have read over here is seen to be believed and let me admit one fact, there is serious talent out here. I marvel the way people write and express their views, opinions, and to top it all make money. Its like a online family out here whom you personally don’t know but they exist nevertheless.

Iam not the kind of person who can write 10 hubs per week or 100 in a month. It is just not my cup of tea. So far only 3 hubs have helped me reach traffic of 1000, which I did not expect. This statistic tells me one very important thing that as cash is king in business, quality is king in writing. But I do need to admit 1 fact that there are people out here who write many hubs and at the same time keep their quality intact, which is very rare. I am in awe of these personalities and wish to emulate them although I find it difficult to do so.

The hub which has fetched me the maximum traffic is “The other side of subprime loans” The link of the article is http://hubpages.com/_jay23/hub/The-Other-Side-of-SubPrime-Loans
I never in my dreams expected that this hub will fetch me nearly 50% of the traffic. This hub was a factual hub based on the events which had occurred a year back. So there was nothing new about this hub. My worst fears were confirmed when I had posted this hub and there was hardly any traffic coming for this hub. I thought I did a mistake by writing something people already know and there wont be much interest to be generated. The first 5-6 days generated hardly any traffic and page hits were around 20 and no comments.

But then things changed and I got my first comment from my classmate from my MBA school. She liked the hub and told me that I had indeed explained it very well. I thought she is just trying to be nice to me. But she was right and then Nazishnasim also commented and asked me some views regarding FASB rules and also asked me to participate in a forum on global recession. Things changed after that and the traffic increased by leaps and bounds and the my biggest compliment came from Pgrundy. To quote her comment

“Jay, you really summed this up in a way that anyone can understand. Thank you so much. i just read your profile and see you are in Mumbai. That is amazing. You understand this better than 98 out of 100 Americans. No wonder we are in a mess! All the best to you. :) “

It was very kind of her to make this comment which did embarrass me a bit but she was honest enough to admit the American plight. Then this hub was nominated for hubnuggets for new writers and in the voting process it came 2nd and with it came the traffic.

A special thanks to all my fans out here. I don’t think that 1000 would have been possible with so less number of hubs and in such a short period of time. I will be taking all their names because each of them in some or the other manner has contributed to my success.

Aevans, Kulsum, Rainbowrecognizer, Charanjeet, Nazishnasim, Apeksha, Anjalichugh, shalini, ajay, einron, violent sun, Kirsa, GM, anglnwu, Laila, Mdawson, Denny, lgali, Chuck, sbailey, Ldsnana, Kari, Feline prophet, amy, jimmy, Stevemarks, cris A, Misha, jajeisan, Andrew, pgrundy, cristina327, Tom R, mosesm, aron, redelf, premsingh, Tom C, laringo, Rvillenuve, Gypsywillow and Kforrestor.

Also special thanks to my friends Khushboo, Nimisha, my ex roomie Sudhanshu, vivek, mukul, rohit, amer, namita, kunal, nirav, nimai, nikhil, Ashray, Ashrut who found time to vote and comment on my articles. There are many others who have voted and commented but these are few who I recollect.

My journey to 1000 hits has been short and sweet and Iam looking forward to write more quality articles/hubs. My Mantra in life and even here at hubpages has been "Stay hungry, Stay foolish". I want to learn as much as I can. I want to be recognized as quality writer so that when my readers click on my article they know that they are about to read a quality stuff.

Thanks to all of you for contributing to my success.
