Creating a culture of accountability
Management and leadership books have been a great source of knowledge for business leaders and serves as a great supplement to leadership trainings and workshops. One of the many management books that I find very useful which leaders of businesses of any size could surely make good use of is Journey to the Emerald City by Roger Connors and Thomas A. Smith.
The authors are the founder of Partners In Leadership, an accountability and management training company that has earned recognition worldwide as one of the most successful in the field of accountability. They have gained global presence because of their ground breaking works in using accountability as an innovative tool towards gaining organizational success.
Journey to the Emerald City succeeds the much successful The Oz Principle in the authors' works on management and leadership. The Oz Principle: Getting Results Through Individual And Organizational Accountability effectively uses the story of the classic The Wizard of OZ in demonstrating how personal accountability benefits a person in attaining his or her on goal. Each of the four characters in the story unlocks the Steps To Accountability that must be taken in the journey from feeling victimized to being accountable and able to move forward and make progress.
Journey to the Emerald City shows business leaders how to build a culture of accountability in order to achieve desired results. The author explores the direct relationship between corporate culture and the output it produces. The culture therefore defines how far and good the organization is doing in its quest to achieve desired goals. Connors and Smith have successfully documented the steps in how to overcome problems in organizational culture and shifting to a culture of accountability that produces positive results.
