Juices And Your Diet

Fruit juices offer supplementary source of nutrition and a source of healing. They are within the reach of everybody and can be made easily.

1. Gooseberry Juice.

Gooseberry is one of the best known natural invigorator and refresher for the human beings. It one of the richest source of Vitamin-C and, a lot of other vitamins and minerals. It is really the best gift the nature has presented to Mankind.

Ayurveda, the Indian system of Medicine uses this widely to cure a variety of illnesses. Some of them are Anemia, Asthma, Bleeding diseases, Constipation, Cough and Cold, deficiency if immunity, Jaundice, Skin diseases, Vitamin deficiency, and anti-emetic.

To make the juice, take fresh Gooseberries about 250 grams, steam boil till tender. Slit and de-seed, and add Honey or cane sugar or Salt, preferably in that order, to taste. Put all of these in a blender and prepare pulp. Add cool water as required and serve.

2. Apple Juice.

The adage “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” is well known to us.

Combined with a natural sweetener like honey, makes it an unparalleled remedy for, Anemia, Asthma, Colds, Diabetes, Digestive disorders, Diseases of tooth, Dysentery, Gout, Obesity, Skin diseases and Stress.

To make juice, cut and cube the whole Apple. Do not de-skin or de-seed it. Put in a blender with a little honey and blend till it is a smooth paste. Add cool water and mix. Drink fresh. Because of problems with oxidation the pulp cannot be preserved.

3. Pomegranate Juice.

Pomegranate is rich in favorable antioxidants. As a matter of fact, pomegranate juice has an elevated concentration of antioxidants – more than almost any other fruit juices, red wine or green tea. All of these are very easily absorbed as they are completely natural.

Ongoing research shows that besides being a good a source of vitamin C and oxidants, it also controls hypertension and actually lowers cholesterol.

To make juice, cut the fruit and extract the seeds. Be careful, the juice stains awful! The seeds are blended and cool water added. Sugar is usually not necessary as this juice is swee as it is. However, you may add honey if you like it very sweet. Serve it fresh.

4. Pineapple juice.

Pineapple juice is rich in vitamin A, B, C, Calcium, Potassium and phosphorous, besides being a fiber rich fruit.

It aids digestion, is good for constipation because if fiber, prevents infection due to vitamin C and as a very low source of fat even helps reducing clots in the blood.

Cube the pine apple after de-skinning and blend it in n a blender with a little cool water. Add honey if needed, and serve fresh.

5. Orange juice.

Orange juice is a power house of minerals, vitamins and fiber.

As with Pomegranate an pineapple juice it is good at controlling Hypertension, cholesterol, infections and in addition beneficial for diabetics.

Pulp whole orange thoroughly and add cool water. Add honey or a pinch of rock salt to taste. Serve fresh.

6. Grape juice.

Grapes are a very complex fruit, the benefits of which is being revealed day by day, as research goes on.

We know that it is beneficial for Arthritis, Blood deficiency, reduction and elimination of uric acid from the system, an prevention of heart disease. It is emerging from research that it is an antiviral and has an effect on polio and herpes viruses. Effect of this fruit on development of breast cancer is being researched.

Pulp the whole fruit, skin, sees and all, add cool water to make the juice. No sweetener is necessary. Serve fresh.

7. Banana juice.

Banana juice is the mother of all fruit juices in the terms of general health.

It is a store house of instant energy and hydration, prevents and cures gastric ulcers, restores mucous cover to the intestinal tract, increases immunity, the best purgative and when mixed with milk increases the stamina. It is a poor man’s best friend.

Make pulp and mix with water or milk to make the juice. Consumption of this juice after a satisfactory meal ensures free bowel evacuation.

Fruit juices are concentrated nutrition providing numerous health benefits. Anybody from an infant to an old person can take this enjoyable route to a good health. They are easy to make and enjoy. They have a wide acceptance.

They are natural supplement to regular medication with no fear of compatibility or reaction. A very wide variety is easily available and in some seasons if one kind of juice is not available then a substitute is always available.

Ayurveda does not advice either hot or cold water for drinking. It is always cool. This is to give stability to one healing component of a diet. Cool means about 5 degrees C, cooler than body temperature, which is what an earthen pot maintains.

This is a very concentrated version of fruits, so please take care not to misuse them. Drink one kind twice every day, as a maximum dose. Excess of anything is not good.

Mmmh. Very healthy. I've learnt from this hub not to drink too much of it. Sometimes, i'm so thirsty, I drink nearly a litre of juice in half an hour.
