Juice Therapy with Fruits and Vegetables

Fruit and Vegetable juices have proved to possess several health benefits. They are widely used in naturopathy to treat a range of ailments. Juices are also good dietary supplements and do not have any side effects. A typical supplementary juice regimen calls for 3 to 4 eight-ounce glasses per day, taken throughout the day. Juices are the richest source of vitamins, minerals and enzymes. Research also have proved that these living on raw fruits and vegetables lives healthier and without ailments. Juices help in increasing energy level and relieving fatigue apart from detoxifying the body. Juices digest in a matter of minutes and are absorbed into the blood stream. Because of all these wonderful benefits Fruit and Vegetable Juice therapy has gained much popularity as an alternate therapy method.

However, it should be noted that to get benefited one should avoid bottled, canned or frozen juices as this may often contain chemicals which destroy the healthy nutrients. It is best to consume the squeezed juices as and when prepared. It is also recommended to compliment the juice intake by a high fiber diet. The fruits and vegetables should be washed thoroughly before juicing and seeds and pits should be removed. Organically grown fruits and vegetables are best suited for making juices as they are free from harmful chemicals. Juice therapy has been used to help treat a whole range of health problems including hypertension, cardiovascular and kidney diseases and obesity. Some common diseases which can be treated through Juice Therapy are Acidity, Acne, Anemia, Arthritis, Asthma, Bronchitis, Colds, Constipation, Diabetes, Diarrhea, Eczema, Halitosis, High Blood pressure, Insomnia, Jaundice, Kidney Disorders, Liver Ailments, Menstrual Disorders, Menopausal Symptoms, Obesity, Piles, Rheumatism, Stomach Ulcers, Sinus, Sore Throat, Tonsillitis etc. However, it is not a substitute for professional medical advice. The juices are normally used in two ways, as a supplement to a normal diet or as a substitute for solid food.

According to nutritionists one should give complete rest to the stomach without losing the required energy by following the juice therapy once in a week. On this day one can take different types of juices for every 2 hours till you go to sleep. Juice fasting lasting for 2 to 5 days at least twice a year is recommended for general health improvement. However, they are not recommended if you have major health problems, during pregnancy or while breastfeeding or for infants and the elderly.

Juice Therapy Remedies for some common diseases

  • Diabetes
    Equal quantities of amla juice and bitter gourd juice taken every morning reduce blood glucose levels.
  • Headaches
    2 tsp fresh juice of Fenugreek leaves along with 1 tsp honey taken daily is good for recurring headaches and insomnia.
  • Obesity
    Drinking the juice of 1 lemon in a cup of warm water on empty stomach early morning every day helps in reducing obesity.

Some Juice Recipes

Protein Rich Soya Shake
• ¼ Pineapple
• 1 Banana
• 1 Orange peeled
• 1 thin slice of watermelon without seeds
• ½ cup Soya Milk
Extract the juices and pulp and blend well with Soya Milk. This juice is very good for Premenstrual Tension.

Fruit Shake
• ½ Orange peeled
• ½ small Papaya
• ½ Banana
• ½ Lemon
• ¼ Pineapple
Extract the juice of lemon and run all the ingredients through a juicer. This juice is a very good digestive aid.

Fruit Punch
• 1 medium bunch of Grapes
• ½ lemon squeezed
• ½ apple
• 1 thin slice of watermelon
Extract the juice of lemon and run all the ingredients through a juicer.This is an excellent juice for blood circulation.

More complex ones like kombucha kefir and wheatgrass are great for the health too!
