How Will You Respond

This hub began some time ago; and I have not really been sure how to run it. Sometimes poems, pictures and websites are enough to say it all. The Christian Church suffers violence against it. I am always taken back at the brutality in our world and wonder how people can be so cruel. I want people to know Jesus. I don't want to force anyone to know Jesus; yet sometimes I feel desperate for others to know. My life here is easy. I can tell someone about Jesus and they may reject me, but I have not had to face loss or imprisonment or death for my faith. I have created this hub to introduce you to VOM- Voice of martyrs. And I ask, how will you respond? I cannot ask this question of you unless I have asked it of myself. I confess my complacency and choose this day to do something - I will pray. Please read and please pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Lord, Jesus, let me be found faithful in the things that matter the most to You. Give me courage to stand firm, energy to fight the good fight and a heart that mirrors Yours.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Eph. 6:18

The Poem "Run Christian Run" was written after reading about two young Sudanese boys who were burned while hiding in a field. Mary was hiding in a field as well. Why did they meet with this tragedy? They are Christians.

Sudan - Run Christian Run

Hungry, desperate, he went looking for food

Keeping low to avoid the "man"

Creeping in the fields of Sudan - Run! Run!

Too late - engulfed by flames around

No where to go, stay low

To the ground. Don't make a sound.

Run, Christian, Run

Mindanao - Lambs Among Wolves

Religious wars rage near the Christian's life

Lambs among wolves; No warning in sight

No mercy for the mother, nor child - just strife

Routine violence pandemic terror -endless night

I'm glad you published this hub, and it is timely. This is a very sobering question, one I also have asked myself. I think of Peter when he told the Lord he would die with Him, only to deny Him three times that very night. The flesh is weak, but the spirit is willing. I do pray for the Lord's miraculous joy to overtake us in the face of death ~ for fear is not of the Lord. When we focus on the fact that it is the Adversary who kills (he was a murderer from the beginning), we will also know his fate! It is only a moment, this life...and is only a moment into the next, praise God!

JD,

thanks for taking time here. My own heart has been convicted at my lack in praying for brothers and sisters in Christ who are in harms way. I believe the Lord gives us what we need and I believe also that there are those praying for us in those times we face challenge. I sure want to be able to stand in the gap for those who now are facing persecution.

Yes, "on earth as it is in heaven" ~ there's not too much of a mystery here, but if Gabriel was prevented from getting to Daniel by the powers in the spirit realm, we know that prayer releases the powers of heaven to accomplish God's will on earth. It's IMPORTANT and VITAL!

With all our brothers and sisters suffering violence and cast along the wayside of this world, we can't help but feel the pain of their persecuted souls. It would be downright tragic to avoid their hurting need and cross over the other side. For starters, we can advance the kingdom of God in these troubled and hostile Anti-Christian countries on our knees. Your hub keeps us mindful of the needs of our persecuted brethren and a lead in of to reach out in concrete ways. Thank you.

Thanks coffee snob for this, a reminder of the freedom we have in comparison to the many that suffer in His name.

I was first introduced to VOM at a Promise Keepers event and have been receiving mailings and updates for 4 years.

We are truly blessed here, God Bless you for writing this Hub.

Blessings

Yes we Christians do have it easy in the U.S. Let us not let that lull us into a sense of complacency about all of our brothers and sisters who live in places which persecute them for their love of Jesus. Thanks for reminding me of my need to pray for these who are my family in Christ.

This is a blessed hub, it is about time christians stand up what they believe in, our Lord Jesus Christ. Put the armor of Christ on and spread the good news. Thank you for sharing this, and sharing your love of our Savior.

Gicky, You are right - battling on our knees is most advantageous. Thank you for being a brother in Christ and sharing in their suffering.

Quill, Amen Brother. Thanks for your love of Christ and for encouragement in the faith. We do have this blessed freedom and though it gets rcoked we still are able to worship our Lord openly. Thaks for being a partner with VOM. Bless you

Lord Seeker - I love you. God has certainly given me the best in you!

Starbug, I think I was writing this hub as much for me - sometimes I have to make my brain think battle and that is when I take up my sword and fight on my knees - God bless.

Thank you, coffeesnob. A good reminder of how cushy & comfortable we have it here in affluent North America. I have friends in Nepal who I call my heroes & am humbled by their boldness & audacity for advancing the Kingdom.

Thank you for this wonderful reminder of the freedom as well as the need to pray for others around the world. I pray that God will keep his hand on believers who are in danger and send his angels to guard them.

I suggest that every Christian request Voice of the Martyrs. And each should read Foxe's Book of Martyrs as well. It may not be long until enough of our freedoms are gone and this country will be persecuting the way others do. I never thought I'd see a time where this country does so much against Christians. It is now being worked on - legislation to make Christains illegal. Say we use hate speech. Put us in jail if we say Jesus is the only way. It is just a matter of time until such things are passed, if God does not change the flow of things. Thank God every day we can witness to others without persecution. Use this time to get strong and give the gospel as much as possible. These spiritual heroes of our Christian family around the world are losing their lives for Jesus. How much are we willing to lose? I love you Coffeesnob.

Ken,

Thanks for reading and for sharing about your heros in Nepal - I don't know them but now they are my heros too. I thank God for people like you that are here on HP - it makes me aware that there are many soldiers of Christ out there who are ready to deploy at His calling. God be with you.

Smireles,

So good to see you here and thank you for your heartfelt response and your prayers for other believers. Prayer has such a bountiful return God bless you abundantly

Kenny MG,

You are kind thanks for your gentle spirit. Our God is always faithful to bring about in us that ability to move beyond self and live in the realm of faith and selfless service. Without Him, I am a bundle of self. Blessings, Brother

NB, my friend,

There is so much I see happening in my lovely USA that just breaks my heart. I Pray that God will raise up an army of spiritual warriors who will take back what has been stolen from this land, and do so on their knees. love u 2 brother

This is touching. Persecution is on the rise and I really admire Christians that boldly go to countries where they are not wanted. Best Wishes.

What a beautiful hub and beautiful reminder! Blessings my friend! I'm really glad you wrote about this.

You mentioned Mindanao. This is in the Philippines. You know Christians and Muslims in most of the Mindanao island have actually already learned to live together and accept each others differences. Unfortunately, there are still some bandits among the Muslims who actually are a disgrace to their religion. They are lawless elements of society. They are the ones who create atrocities and other barbaric acts. Unfortunately, they have arms and aid coming from some other countries.

Jill,

Thanks for responding to this. You thoughts are precious to me. I know that in my last trip to the Philippines we talked about "safe" places to go and Mindanao was one the raised a red flag. when seeing this article it broke my heart. I know that no place is exempt from lawlessness. Just a little over a week ago in Chicago there was the report of the boy beaten to death, and they beleived it was because he would not join the gangs. I pray every day to God and confess my complacency that tends to hold me back from sharing with others about the hope in Jesus - a hope that heals. I ask Him to send me into the harvest because even if I can't physically go to help one whose life is in danger for being a Christian then I can pray for them. Thanks for enlightening me on the "good" things happening - it is also good to think on things that are good. good to see you here and I pray god will give back to you more than you lost in the floods
