We broke the news about whether the new baby was a boy or girl by purchasing a doll that was of that gender and buying a change of clothes for it. We gave the instructions that grandma and grandpa would have to change the clothes to find out. You could adapt this by wrapping a doll with doll diapers, bottles, etc. and give them a card that they open first with something written inside about "a gift of practice--you'll need it shortly". That should get their curiosity up, and you'll have quite a reaction when they open the actual gift.

What's funny is, when I was trying to locate one of these dolls, I was calling around to all the toy stores asking if they had "anatomically correct" dolls in stock. I couldn't figure out why the confusion from every clerk. Finally, one suggested I try "Spenser's", a novelty shop. I couldn't figure out why they would carry toys, but i was really wanting one, and thought maybe this guy knew what he was talking about. When the Spencer's clerk asked me if I was interested in the lubricant to go with it, I screamed and hung up!! I never even thought about those things! I was so embarrased, I had to send my friend into the toy store to look.
Spencers is a great place. that's funny
I was mortified!!!!!! Can you imagine the conversations the employees had when I hung up?

I did it the boring way, using lines such as "I'm pregnant".....
Sometimes simple is the best way to go. I got myself in trouble with the toy stores trying to do something interesting. But Pest's way was pretty interesting.
