Katie Holmes is an American actress who first achieved fame for her role as Joey Potter on The WB television teen drama Dawson's Creek from 1998 to 2003. Katherine Noelle Holmes was born on December 18, 1978, in Toledo, Ohio.

Katie's movie roles have ranged from art house films such as The Ice Storm to thrillers such as Abandon to blockbusters such as Batman Begins. Her marriage to Tom Cruise has certainly gained her much fame, especially since she's 16 years his junior.

Winner of the 1999 MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Female Performance, Katie was also voted one of Teen People magazine's "21 Hottest Stars Under 21" and Sweden's Expressen Fredag's "Babe of the Year" in 1998.
