Kadhal arangam. As the name suggests, the film discusses brazen and threadbare manner. While the idea of education or creating the right attitude towards sex is quite laudable, the device used by the director in the form of skimpily clad actresses creates doubts about the integrity of the story. So much so that even the composer, the great Ilayaraja who has worked for the film had suggested some cuts after he found some scenes quite objectionable.

A censor board official stated that the movie has obscene intercourse and even full frontal undressed scenes which is inappropriate for public viewing. Velu makes it appear as if the movie is based on principles of Periyar. On the other hand, "the movie will spark public unrest and controversies if it was released without the recommended cuts", said the official, adding, "We are sure that Rajini had not heard the story and did not have an idea of Velu's plan to sell an obscene movie under the Periyar tagline".

Censor has not allowed this movie to screen and later the director deleted some controversial scenes and renamed the movie as "Kadhal Kadhai" and the movie is releasing today on 17.07.2009.
