Kanye West Goes Overboard To Show His Displeasure With Winner Of VMA Award
I am not a fan of Kanye West, I can admit that. On the other hand, I'm not a real fan of Taylor Swift either. I'm more of a rock-n-roll guy. But I was compelled to write this Hub only minutes after watching the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and witnessing first hand how completely full of himself Kanye West is and how disrespectful he was to Taylor Swift. In the middle of Swift's acceptance speech for Female Video of the Year, West walked out on stage and grabbed the microphone out of Swifts hands. He looked as if he was going to play some kind of prank and Taylor Swift didn't really know how to react so she kind of went with it. Then Kanye turned to the crowd and started ranting about how Beyonce's video was one of the best of all time. He calmly handed the mic back to Swift as if to say, "okay, now you can talk". Everyone in the room was floored by his outburst, especially Swift. And she really didn't know what to do next. Nobody really knew what to do.
I know what should have been done. Kanye West should have had his brainless ass thrown out of the VMA's like anyone else would have been. What could he have been thinking?! He keeps talking about being the voice of the people, a role nobody wants him to have but he keeps accepting. Then he goes and does something like this and it reminds us why he is not the voice of the people. If he was the voice of the people, he wouldn't have gotten booed every time his name got mentioned for the rest of the night. If he was the voice of the people, he wouldn't have people like Pink going on Twitter and tweeting that he is, and I quote, "the biggest piece of sh*t on earth".
A word to the wise, Mr. West, you are not the voice of the people. Stop trying to be something you are not and just make music. People don't want to hear what you have to say anymore. Most of the time it doesn't even make sense. But look at who you are pissing off. Your fans. Not me, of course but those people in the crowd who were booing you off the stage at the VMA's. Yes those fans. And it was those fans who made you who you are. Yes, they liked your music and you became popular for that and more people listened and you became a celebrity. That's how it works. The fans rule! But if you keep going on with stunts like you pulled tonight, your fans will show you just how much they control who you are. And there will be no more "Kanye West, celebrity", Only "Kanye West, Hennesy loving ex-singer".

Beyonce Shows Class Above and Beyond. Final Award Winner Gives Up Her Moment So Swift Can Have Hers.
In stark contrast to Kanye West's most unclassy outburst, Beyonce showed that she could give lessons on class. Announced as the winner of the final award of the evening, Best Video of the Year, Beyonce got up on stage and spoke from her heart. "Wow, this is amazing," she said as she received her award. "I remember being 17-years-old and up for my first MTV award with Destiny's Child. It was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So, I'd like for Taylor to come out and have her moment."
The crowd errupted and stood on their feet as Taylor Swift entered the stage. Shocked at the most generous gesture ever given at an awards show, Swift made a brief, subtle reference to the earlier incident by starting her acceptance with "Maybe we can try this again" before she delivered her thank you's for her award.
When she finished, Swift walked back over to Beyonce and with yet another thank you hug, the two walked off stage. I don't know how others responded to this deed of all good deeds but I knew I had just witnessed something special. Something that would be talked about for years to come. Beyonce went over and above what anyone could have expected her to do. Showing all of us that sometimes it's not about us, sometimes it's about the other person. And in doing that so graciously, Beyonce has shown that when you do it from your heart, people will see you even more and better than they did before. Beyonce has shown that she is a special person with a loving heart and a caring soul. If more people in the world could see this and use this as an example of how to live their lives, the world would be so much better. Bless you Beyonce. For having the brains to see what Kanye did was wrong, the heart to feel Taylor Swift's pain and the courage to make it all right in front of millions of people. You are truly a rare and special person.
MTV Got It Right Afterall-Others Still Giving West The Spotlight
Update
The details of what actually happened in the aftermath of the incident came in and I would like to report that I feel MTV got it right. Mr. West was asked to leave the awards show shortly after the incident. That's what should have happened and that's the way it went down.
But what I can't figure out is why people would continue to give him airtime to spew more BS and make some of us hate him even more. Jay Leno, for example, had Kanye scheduled to appear as a musical guest with

With all the backlash he is getting there's no way Kanye isn't getting the message that what he did was really messed up. But I get the feeling he really doesn't care and that's really sad. I hope the fans never forget. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Beyonce is indeed a class act, and perhaps Kanye West learned something (probably not)from her. Sometimes people get caught up with their success and ego, and forget to simply be respectful and kind to others.
Enjoyed reading this as I didn't watch the awards show.
