For many years the pressure washer has been in use to provide fast and effective cleaning strength through the power of water pushed through a narrow nozzle opening under high pressure. The main places you would have seen these washers were in commercial operations such as factories and cleaning stations responsible for large vehicles.

These days there has been a growing market for residential pressure washers as more people are becoming aware of the effectiveness they have to clean surfaces around the house. One of the biggest names in the pressure washer industry is Karcher. Karcher pressure washers are available in both residential models and commercial models and we will take a look at both to determine their suitability and capabilities.

You can measure the power of a pressure washer by the operating pressure it generates. This is a figure that is measured in PSI or pounds per square inch. The higher the number the more pressure that is generated and the more powerful the machine is.

The Residential Karcher Pressure Washer

There are numerous models of pressure washers manufactured by Karcher available, either as electric powered or gas powered machines. By and large the gas powered pressure washers are the more powerful machines as well as having the capability of being able to operate independent of a source of electricity. Each of these cleaners come with soap packs that can be operated with the push of a button.

The smallest residential electric Karcher pressure washer in the range is the K 2.16 model that is a 1400 psi washer. This means it pushes water out with 28 times more pressure than the average garden hose. With this type of pressure washer you can wash the sidewalk, deck  or your car clean of dirt and mud without risk of damaging any of them.

With this model comes a DirtBlaster spray wand that allows you to clean hard wearing surfaces, directing the most powerful jets of water from close range.  You can swap this wand for the Vario Power Spray which is a lower pressure delivery system that allows you to adjust the pressure for when you are cleaning more delicate surfaces.

The residential range of electric washers takes you right up to the K 5.93 M which is uses the same type of pump that is used in the Karcher commercial washers. This model delivers up to 1850 psi of pressure making it an extremely powerful domestic washer. It also comes with the two types of wands and is ideal for more demanding cleaning duties. It is also a more durable model delivering professional level cleaning results.

We then move on to the gasoline powered Karcher pressure cleaners that start with the G 2000 series that have operating pressures that range from 2000 psi up to 2600 psi. These are labeled as the consumer models in the gas powered line. For the most powerful gas powered pressure washers you move up to the G 4000 models that operate with a pressure of 4000 psi.

With these gasoline model cleaners you have a high-powered cleaner that can withstand rigorous cleaning jobs with unflinching performance. A lot of care must be taken when operating these machines because the water that is delivered are sprayed at extremely high speeds and can cause serious damage to any delicate objects that get in its way.

The Commercial Karcher Pressure Washer

Karcher offers a line of more than 100 commercial or industrial grade pressure washers. The washers come in two main categories: hot water and cold water. The hot water models clean faster and more effectively due to the heat energy that is added to the cleaning process. The cold water models clean more economically and are manufactured more cheaply because they have fewer moving parts.

You can get the hot water pressure washers as electric powered, gasoline powered or diesel powered models and they come in a range of size and pressure options. Within each of the different power options are further choices available to you. You can choose the convenience of a portable washer that has wheels, or you can choose the alternative of a skid mounted model. The diesel powered pressure washer is only available as a skid-mounted model.

All of the hot water cleaners are powerful industrial cleaning machines and are all capable of producing operating pressure at or above 3000 psi. These machines are highly effective at stripping the surface off of anything that stands in their way and should be operated by experienced cleaners.

The cold water models are available in much the same power choices and operate at the same speeds as the hot water models. These types of cleaners have proven to be effective in a wide range of professional cleaning situations but are unable to clean oils and greases. The gasoline and diesel models can be used in isolated locations and have been designed to draw water from a water tank so that cleaning can be effected well away from public utilities.

Large or small, residential or commercial, hot water or cold, the pressure washers available from Karcher are technologically superior to most other brands that you can buy. They are also extremely durable and can stand up to a lot of hard work.

The Karcher company has made its name on building and perfecting pressure washers. The range of available models is astoundingly huge and you would be well advised to visit your local stockiest for a complete idea of what is available and how well it will suit your needs.
