Kart Racing

Kart racing, or simply karting or go kart, is one of the safest motor sports and also one of the most inexpensive ways to go fast on four wheels and race around in a competitive environment.

Karts are designed so that they will not flip over easily except for cases that involve collision with other karts, because the karts are planted so closely to the ground. It happens that kart racers suffer minor injuries because of crashes in the circuits.

Kart racing uses open-wheeled vehicles that are powered by small engines, in vehicles that weigh only around 160lbs without the driver. With that little weight to haul around, even using diminutive engines, these things can reach speeds in excess of 100mph.

Kart racing, compared to other forms of motor sport, the hardware is entry-level.Engines do not require that much maintenance as larger and more expensive engines do.Chassis are made of tube steel that holds the engine and other components in place.Karts don“t have dampers or springs so the chassis serve as the suspension as well.

Kart racing entails safety precautions just like any other sport. With kart racing, in terms of safety, you can go a long way just by using common sense.

Here are some general safety tips:

1.Briefing
There will always be a short briefing in all karting circuits before you are allowed to drive. During the briefing, you will be given the rules and safety instructions. It will only take a few minutes, but it is important to listen to these important guidelines.

2.Safety clothes
Most of the times, safety clothes are provided in the karting packages.Basic outfit is sufficient enough, and it includes the karting suit, the helmet and protective gloves.Footwear is usually not included in the package, so you will need to bring your own shoes.

Sneakers or training shoes with thick soles are recommended, this way you can still feel the pressure that you are putting into the pedals.Serious kart racers often have their own safety clothes.

3.Ear plugs
To avoid ear damage, it is recommended to use rubber ear plugs. These help regulate the hearing of the high pitch of the motor.

Due to the inexpensive nature of the sport, kart racing is also used as a tool to teach aspiring drivers the basics of racing techniques, because much of the underlying concepts of racing karts apply also to other forms of motorsports, and this is a form of racing that can exemplify the importance of good technique more than any other sport.

Numerous drivers have used kart racing as a stepping stone to proceed to higher forms of motor sport, and not a few superstar drivers have kart racing experience as their foundation on racing.
