Kata beach is one of the most popular beaches on Phuket. It is much quieter than Patong but it is still busy in Kata beach in the high season. There are 2 parts to Kata Beach. If you head south from Karon Beach over the hill you come into Kata beach. There is a narrow road running along the beach to the Kata beach Resort at the south end of the beach. Another road runs behind the Club Med and this then goes over the hill to the other part of Kata, or you can head left towards Rawai and Chalong.

There are lots of hotels and resorts in Kata but apart from the Kata beach Resort and the Katathani you have to walk to the beach. The Club med though is just across from the beach. Many of the hotels and other places to stay mean either a short walk to the beach or, unless you choose with care, quite a long way to the beach. There are lots of restaurants and small shops and quite a few bars, so enough to do for most people, or head into Patong for lively nightlife, Patong is the busiest resort area on Phuket.

There are shops and you can also find some outside market stalls to but things, shopping is there but you need to go to the busier areas for more shopping.
