Katie Couric

Katie Coric is the  anchor at CBS evening news. She became popular after interviewing Sarah Palin. Palin found it difficult to answer Katie's simple questions like which newspaper you read. Now recenty Katie herself had the same kind of embarrassing moment while she interviewed the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. She was not able to identify the person on the photograph showed by Ahmadinejad.




Personal life

Katie Couric was born on January 7, 1957 in Virginia. She graduated from University of Virginia.She started her television career in 1980s with ABC network.  She was in the Today show from 1991 to 2006.  Katie married Jay Monahan, an attorney in 1989. Monahan passed away in 1998 due to colon cancer, leaving Katie with two young kids.



Fight agaist colon Cancer

After the death of Monahan, Katie focused to make awareness about colon cancer. She opened the Jay Monahan center for Gastrointestinal Health in New York City in 2004. Also, she did her colonoscopy live on TV  in 200 to make people understand the importance of screening for colon cancer. She is also the founder of National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance.


Her new series @KatieCouric is a web based one hour interview program on CBSNews.com. her first guest for that was Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck. During the interview Couric asked Glenn Beck to define ''white culture'' , a term he used against president Obama before. He refused to define that.
