How to make Kerala fish curry - Cookery show
Meen Avail - (Fish)
Ingredients:
Fish (tuna or other big boned fish) - 1kg
grated coconut - 2 cups onion - 1
green chilies - 3 to 4
ginger - small piece
turmeric powder - 1tsp
drum sticks - 2 raw
mango - 1
shallots - few
mustard seeds - little
curry leaves
red chilly (dried) -2 to 3
coconut oil
salt -to taste
Method:
Grind grated coconut, onion, green chilies, ginger, turmeric powder. Do not make it into a paste. In a clay pot add this along with the fish, drumsticks, mango, salt and one and a half glass of water and cook till all the ingredients are cooked well. Don’t forget to keep the vessel closed while cooking. Sauté mustard seeds, curry leaves, shallots and dried chilies. When it turns slightly brown pour this over the cooked fish and vegetables and mix well. Be careful not to break the fish pieces since it is very tender. Garnish it with curry leaves and serve hot.

Ingredients:
red chilies (dried) - 2
black pepper - 2 to 3 tsp
green chilies - 3
cumin seeds - 2 tsp
turmeric powder - ½ tsp
ginger - small piece
garlic - 5 cloves
shrimp - ½ kg
coconut oil - 2 table spoon
curry leaves - little
onion (chopped) - 3
tamarind pulp - ¼ cup
salt - to taste
Method:
Grind the chilies, pepper, cumin, turmeric powder, ginger and garlic. Marinate the shrimp with this paste for 1 hour. In a clay pot sauté curry the chopped onions, green chilies, ginger and salt in coconut oil. Keep this aside. Now shallow fry the marinated shrimp and the above masala and tamarind pulp and little water over it. Allow the water to evaporate completely. Garnish it using curry leaves and red dried chilies and serve hot.
Easy Shrimp Curry

Ingredients:
mall fish - ½ kg
Koddam puli - 2
Coconut grated - 1 ½ cup
Shallots - 5
green chilies - 4
ginger – garlic paste - 2 tsp
salt
turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
coconut oil
mustard seeds - little
curry leaves
Method:
Mash grated coconut, ginger-garlic paste, shallots, chopped green chilies, turmeric powder, koddam puli and salt. In a clay pot sauté mustard and add the above ingredients into it and heat it. Finally add the fish and curry leaves into this and cook well. Garnish it with curry leaves and serve hot.
