When doing keyword research using Keyword Elite, starter or root keywords are needed as seeds to generate a keyword list. Typically the average search engine optimization professional can think of 5 highly focused seed keywords off the top of their head to begin the search. Then you'll need to go through a separate thesaurus to find similar words to add to your existing list. This is a pain when a lot of content needs to be written or an online pay per click ad campaign needs to be optimized quickly.

So what do you do? How do you get a jump on the competition? Enlist the help from the biggest search engine of course. Google is your friend.

Start by going to Google Adwords Keyword Tool. You'll see two options:

• Descriptive words or phrases: Generate more keywords like Keyword Elite ... up to a limit of 200 results; pretty sad. Which is why we're using Keyword Elite to generate thousands of keywords for our research.

• Website content: Generate related keywords based on the content of a web site URL.

If you're trying to write or optimize content to market a product or service, then pick the second choice, Website content.

Now type in the URL of the product or service you're trying to market. You can even type in the existing URL of your current web site that you're trying to optimize to help you generate better keywords.

Google will then generate a list of up to 200 super related keywords to the content of that URL. They will be organized into groups of related keywords by topic. Google will even suggest other keywords that are not part of your site.

Now sort the recent month search volume or the average search volume by clicking on their column heading. Starting from the top of the generated keyword list, perform a Project 1 search in Keyword Elite on each keyword you generated from the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. Make sure to select the following check boxes in Keyword Elite's Project 1 screen

• Ask.com
• Google suggestion tool
• Yahoo!
• FreeKeywords WT
• Meta Tags

You can also select the following optional choices

• Mispelled Keywords
• WordTracker (requires subscription)
• KeywordDiscovery (requires subscription)

Drag the slider bar to the maximum number of results to return from each search engine. This is purely subjective. So do some searches and if you feel you have not generated enough results, run Project 1 again with more results from the slider bar. Since Google Suggestion Tool only returns up to 200 results, I recommend using a value higher than 200. Also consider that each search engine will generate some duplicate keywords. So the higher the number of results to return using the slider bar, the more unique keywords will be generated. Again, its up to you to figure out over time how many keywords to generate.

Click "OK" and watch Keyword Elite generate thousands of keywords for your keyword research. It is an amazing tool that will help you become a better internet marketer.
