Pet Food Danger Gauge 50% Dangerous and Toxic To Pets

Animal digest. How about that ... we don't even know from which animal the digested tissue came from. If the compnay wanted us to know our pets were eating beef poop the company would say "Beef digest". Since the company chose to say "animal" the animal can be anything from dog, cat, rat, road kill or whatever. AAFCO doesn't care that manure is included in the pet food as long as the temperature at the time of cooking is brought to a certain degree.

Now there are those people out there who simply refuse to believe a pet food company would use manure in their pet's foods. Let me ask you to think on this issue for just a minute and then see what you decide. Let's take a person, for instance, when a person begins the "digestion" process food is placed in the mouth for chewing. Digestion continues as the food passes to the stomach and is broken down to pass into the intestines for further digestion. Digestion is complete once the person has had a bowl movement and fully evacuated the food from the human body. Why would obtaining animal digest be any different from human digest?

Animal Fats - Used to encourage a pet to eat ingredients they normally would not eat. Ingestion may lead to gastrointestinal upset or even pancreatitis. This can be a very painful condition for dogs. In addition, most companion animals do not need extra fat in their diets. Statements like "animal fat" does not tell us from what animal the fat came from.

BHA - Because manufacturers need to ensure that dry foods have a long shelf life (typically 12 months) to remain edible through shipping and storage, fats used in pet foods are preserved with either synthetic or "natural" preservatives. Synthetic preservatives include butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), propyl gallate, propylene glycol (also used as a less-toxic version of automotive antifreeze), and ethoxyquin.

BHT - Because manufacturers need to ensure that dry foods have a long shelf life (typically 12 months) to remain edible through shipping and storage, fats used in pet foods are preserved with either synthetic or "natural" preservatives. Synthetic preservatives include butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), propyl gallate, propylene glycol (also used as a less-toxic version of automotive antifreeze), and ethoxyquin.

Artificial Flavors and colors cause cancer. This product is loaded with artificial colors.

Class Action - Some people found out what a poor pet food this company produces a little too late. Their pets became ill and many have died due to eating Pet Food. Those people and others who are upset over the pet food company making such a poor quality pet food has filed a Class Action against them. Anytime I see a Class Action filed against a company and the products the company produces I would not advise feeding their products to your pets. The pet owners have filed a Class Action against the company for killing their pets.

Corn Syrup - sugars should not be added to a pet's diet. Sugars cause a host of medical conditions and are used only to encourage pets to eat ingredients they normally would not eat. This sugar source is very toxic to cats and dogs.

Corn, Wheat, and Soy make up a huge amount of this product. Very little beef is used. This should be cow feed (if a cow would live after eating all this) rather than dog food.

The use of Corn, Wheat, and Soy are causing such awful conditions in pets including:

  • Abnormal nail growth
  • Bad breath
  • Blindness
  • Bloat
  • Cancer
  • CRF
  • Cushings Disease
  • Deafness
  • Dental disease
  • Dry and itchy skin
  • Ear aches
  • Ear infections
  • Early pet death
  • Fever
  • Hair loss
  • Heart conditions
  • Hot Spots on the skin
  • IBD
  • Kidney conditions
  • Liver conditions
  • Moles and warts
  • Seizures
  • Sore feet
  • Tumors
  • Weight gain

Hydrochloric acid - Used in the production of chlorides, fertilizers, and dyes can cause immediate pain and burns of the mouth, throat, esophagus and gastrointestinal tract.

Bone meal - from what animal and what % is used? Is this our animal protein source? Shame, shame!

Water - we are paying for water being added to the mix when the company loaded the recipe full of usless grains to soak up all the moisture? Humph!

Sodium Carbonate - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - The most important use for sodium carbonate is in the manufacture of glass. a common additive in municipal pools used to neutralize the acidic effects of chlorine and raise pH. In taxidermy, sodium carbonate added to boiling water will remove flesh from the skull or bones of trophies to create the "European skull mount" or for educational display in biological and historical studies. Sodium carbonate is also used as a descaling agent in boilers such as found in coffee pots, espresso machines, etc. In dyeing with fiber-reactive dyes, sodium carbonate (often under a name such as soda ash fixative or soda ash activator) is used to ensure proper chemical bonding of the dye with the fibers, typically before dying (for tie dyes), mixed with the dye (for dye painting), or after dyeing. The crystalline form of washing soda can be used to induce vomiting in dogs. A tablespoon for large breeds is sufficient to force the animal to empty the contents of its stomach.

Ferrous sulfate - Overdose symptoms may include nausea, severe stomach pain, bloody diarrhea, coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds, shallow breathing, weak and rapid pulse, pale skin, blue lips, and seizure (convulsions). - from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Ferrous sulfate is applied for the purification of water by flocculation and for phosphate removal in municipal and industrial sewage treatment plants to prevent eutrophication of surface water bodies.

Calcium Iodate - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - an oxidant added to lotions and ointments as an antiseptic and deodorant.

Choline chloride is mass produced and is an important additive in feed especially for chicken where it accelerates growth. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Calcium sulfate - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. A common laboratory and industrial chemical. Called hemihydrate or calcined gypsum (commonly known as plaster of Paris).

Sodium bisulfate - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - used in Household cleaners, Sani-Flush, for example, silver pickling, and to reduce alkalinity and ph in swimming pools.

Potassium Chloride - used as the third of a three drug combination in judicial execution through lethal injection and used for making fertilizer.

Propylene glycol - Because manufacturers need to ensure that dry foods have a long shelf life (typically 12 months) to remain edible through shipping and storage, fats used in pet foods are preserved with either synthetic or "natural" preservatives. Synthetic preservatives include butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), propyl gallate, propylene glycol (also used as a less-toxic version of automotive antifreeze), and ethoxyquin. Propylene glycol are clear liquids used in antifreeze and deicing solutions.

Salt should not be added to a pet's diet. This recipe has loads of salt.

Sorbic Acid - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Salts used as a food preservative.

Potassium sorbate - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - salt used as a preservative.

Sodium selenite is mainly used in the manufacture of colorless glass - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

I have already stated my feelings about the use of corn, wheat, and soy. I want you to be completely aware of how dangerous these three grains can be. Now I am going to add insult to injury. Look what Del Monte has included in this recipe for the source of wheat.

Wheat middlings - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - is an inexpensive byproduct of human food processing, commonly referred to as floor sweepings. It is an inexpensive filler in pet food with no real nutritional value.

Hoorah for you! I'm glad to see more people on the band wagon, and realizing the crap that is on the grocery store shelves for our beloved pets to eat.

We need to take care of our pets, they depend on us for their well being, and they give us undying gratitude, love, companionship, and laughs in return- gee, sounds like our children, doesn't it?!
