Disclaimer!

This review only includes Hubs which deal with kids and money, so it won't cover the array of Hubs about saving money when buying things for kids and so on. You will find here mostly Hubs for parents, some of which can can be enjoyed by kids as well, about teaching kids money skills.

They are reviewed in order, as they came up in the Hubpages search, and I stopped after 5 pages of results because there weren't any more relevant ones after that.

Hubs are constantly changing. This review was done on January 31, 2008, and these Hubs may have been changed since then. This information represents one person's opinion, and I invite comments disputing anything I might have said.

I wrote some of these Hubs. I have tried not to let that influence what I wrote about them, but I may be biased anyway. If you think I have been unfair anywhere, please post a comment or contact me and let me know.

Did I Miss Something?

If there is a relevant Hub I haven't reviewed, please add a comment and let me know.

[Internet Reading of the day] Is Your Kid's Greatest Fear About Money The Possibility of Having to Support You?

I'm not sure whether this was reproduced with Suze Orman's permission, but it's a great read, so until I have definite evidence one way or the other, I'm leaving it in here with a link.

The title says it all, really. Makes the angst about whether to include kids in the family finances seem somewhat misplaced! Eight-year-olds (not just one, but many) are worrying about how they will support their parents.

My son is a teen, and I always have the problem of how much to give, and what to refuse. It's different in India: kids can't have newspaper routes or work in restaurants or something. Or even babysit.

Great hub; you have given us all aspects to the problem, and solutions, thanks!

Kenny, I am very interested in the situation in India.

The President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam, expressed concern that the goals and aspirations of young people in India centred around getting a good job, rather than becoming young entrepreneurs and employers. He wants to create young entrepreneurs in large numbers in India to help drive economic development.

If young people are prevented from learning how to do business at the ages when they are best able to learn, how will this vision be achieved?

Kids here are not allowed to be employed during school hours until they reach the minumum school leaving age (14years 9months in our state), but they are able to make and sell products for cash, or sell their services outside school hours. They generally can't get regular jobs, but that doesn't prevent them making money.

Is it mainly a legal obstacle that prevents kids from earning money in India, or a social one?

Jenny
