I'm always excited with thinking about all the great kids party themes to choose from.  I mean who doesn't love a party, and it seems even more special when you have a theme to it as well.  But instead of the same old cowboy / princess parties, why not think outside the box and create your own unique theme.

Unless of course your child is a diehard Ben 10 fan and won't accept anything else (yes I have one of those too).  But I'm always looking for new ideas and fun themes to try for upcoming birthday parties.

Ben 10 Party

Ok, so I had to go there since Ben 10 is such a craze in my house right now. Your colour theme will be green and yellow with touches of black and white so make sure to get lots of streamers and balloons in those colours.

Games that you can play include charades to guess which alien you have become, a treasure hunt for Ben 10 goodies and if you can afford it, create your own Ben 10 t-shirt, where every child get's their own white t-shirt to draw (his t-shirt is a white shirt with a black stripe down the front).

Fire-fighter Party

If you are having a party in the summer then a fire-fighter party can be fun as you pretend to put out fires with your hose (not real fires of course - paper mache makes great realistic looking 'flames'.)

Your colour theme will be red with touches of yellow and you can make up firefighter badges for everyone to wear.

Alice In Wonderland Tea Party

With the new movie coming out you won't have to look far to have a tea party themed items that you can use.  Make the invitations out of a pack of cards, and serve all the food off finger food plates and all the drinks from tea cups.  A cute idea is to serve cupcakes inside teacups as well.

Games you can play include pin the smile on the Cheshire Cat and instead of a pinata, have a Queen of Spades to 'chop off her head'.

Cheerleader Party

Ahh the things you can do with streamers.  This can be a really cute idea as there are so many games and activities that you can center around cheering with your little girls.  But instead of cheering for a sporting team, everyone has to make up a cheer about the Birthday Girl!  Don't forget the megaphones and banners with the birthday girl's name on them.

For older children you can base the children's party around their favorite movies or TV shows.  There are many different ways you can provide games including many of the Scene It? DVD games including Seinfeld Scene It, Friends, Twilight and more.

Have the guest come as their favorite character's and serve food that is in the theme of the show.
