Looking back on my childhood, one of my clearest memories involves a kids table and chairs set. It was plastic and colorful and just the size for a four-year old. My grandmother kept it out in the backyard for my cousins and I, and the variety of ways it which we (and all of our friends) used it was endless. We used it as tables in a restaurant, a checkout counter at the store--we even draped sheets over top of it and constructed tents. It was practical as well, because while we standing atop of it and using it as a pirate ship, my grandmother would come out with a washcloth and sandwiches. She'd wipe the dirt easily off the surface, and then my cousin and I could settle down for lunch while sailing the seven seas.
We loved that table so much, that when one day it snowed (and it was nearly completely covered) we thought for sure it wouldn't hold up. In the end it was fine, and it remains there to this day. Now when it snows, it my children who go outside on a rescue mission!

Choices, Choices

If you are thinking and purchasing a kids tables and chairs set, there are a million different choices almost immediately presented to you. There are ones for bedrooms, ones for kitchens; ones for the outside, desks, rollie chairs, benches--the options are endless! Whatever you need it for, and whatever you want it to look like, I'm sure there's a store somewhere, that sells it.

Kitchen, Living Room, and Dinning Room Sets

One of the most common types are the wood table and chairs set, wherein both the chairs and table is made out of actual wood (or a very similar wood-like material). These kinds usually come in a variety of sizes, and usually fit 2-4 children. The wooden sets, generally used in the home living room, kitchen, or dinning room, are often themed. The themes can be simpler and color-wise (like princess pink, or green and white) or if you're looking to be a little adventurous, you can even purchase ones with characters printed on the hardware themselves, like Blue's Clues or Dora the Explorer.
These tables are most commonly used for activities like writing, coloring, or eating meals. These tables are especially useful when there are lots of guests in the house, and several small children (on an occasion like Thanksgiving) you can have the children seated at their own table (but in the vicinity) so that you can keep and eye on them, but they don't disrupt the other guests. Children will also feel a sense of pride once they've mastered the art of table manners, and are then seated at the grown-up table with everyone else. For many children, this is a personal stepping stone to becoming and adult.

Bedroom and Backyard

If you have a large yard (or even a small one) you might be considering purchasing a kids chair and table set for your children to enjoy outdoors. These tables are usually made of a thick, durable plastic, and they enable your children to eat lunch without tracking in all their mess from the outside. Not to mention--clean-up is a snap--as any spills and crumbs can be wiped away with a simple wash cloth or rag, and soap isn't even usually needed.
There are also sets for children's bedrooms as well. This may mean a desk and chair for them to do homework at, or a simple table for them to color and draw on. These sets are usually made up simple wood, and they usually come in solid colors like white, pink, blue, etc. Maybe of these tables have wax-resistant surface, so any accidental crayoning can be wiped away. They usual seat one or two children.

If you are convinces that purchasing a kids table a chairs set is a good idea, then go down and check out your local furniture store, or a widely-known store like Walmart, or IKEA. At the end of the day, the decision is up to you, and whatever you chose, you're children will most likely benefit and gain a positive, fun experience!
