Gift Ideas for Kids to Make
Christmas is a time for giving, sharing and loving. These ideas for kids Christmas crafts to make as gifts for family and friends are easy, inexpensive and will make great keepsakes.
Sing-a-Long Christmas
You will need a blank audiotape with a clear plastic case, a tape recorder, white paper and paint.
Your child may need a little help with this one but most kids love to be the star attraction so will enjoy singing carols and Christmas songs. Start by typing the words of the songs and make them into a little booklet by stapling or tying the pages together. Get your ‘star’ to practice before recording.
Cut one of the sheets of paper cut into 2 1/2 inches by 4 inches pieces and let your child draw and paint Christmas pictures and sign their name and put the date. Once dry use this for the cover of the tape.
Tie the tape and booklet together with ribbon ready to give as a gift. This makes a great keepsake for doting grandparents.
Holiday Wreath
For this you will need cardboard cut into a 12 inch round with a center hole cut out, like a donut. Other materials are Christmas items and shapes such as small bells, pictures from old Christmas cards, holly or any other suitable collage material. You will need glue, small amount of wide ribbon and narrow ribbon, plus tape or a stapler.
On one side of the board write name and date and any message. On the other side paste the Christmas items. Once the glue has dried tie a bow using the wide ribbon and secure it to the front of the wreath. With the narrow ribbon secure a loop by taping or stapling it to the back so that the wreath can be hung up.
Stained Glass Candle Holder
Materials for this will be: colored crepe paper or tissue paper, scissors, paintbrushes, small glass jar, liquid starch or substitute watered down white glue. You will need a non-paper surface to dry the jar on.
Start by cutting or tearing small pieces of crepe paper. Paint the jar with the starch or glue and place the crepe paper over the jar overlapping to cover completely. Reapply glue to make sure there are no loose ends. Leave the jar to dry on a non paper surface, such as a plastic tray. A ribbon may be tied around the top.

The Stained Glass Candle Holder activity sounds interesting. I think I will try it with my nieces and nephews. The sing-along Christmas one sounds good, but some of my nieces and nephews don't know how to read yet. I have 8 nieces and nephews and I babysit them a lot. I am always trying to think of ways for them to have fun without tv or video games. Anyway, there is this really cool website that families can go to and check out together at http://www.kabillion.com/littledirector This website allows kids to upload their drawings they've made at school or home, animate them, and much more! The website is very kid-focused so kids have an easy time using it. I work with Kabillion and I just wanted to let you know about this great site you can check out with your kids. Check it out and let me know what you and your kids end up creating!
