Intro

Someone said: “For every minute you are angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness”.

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” Buddha

“"The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger." Prophet Muhammad.

This is an easy and practical way to appease your anger immediately and after you read the following and apply this magical recipe, look at yourself in the mirror to see the difference.

What is anger?

Always remember that anger is a natural sentimental condition which you shouldn’t be ashamed of. Anger symptoms are: frustration feelings, tendency to use ridicule, muscles and nerves tension.

Specify the reasons!

Sometimes, it is very clear to know the reason like when someone steals your purse or bag or when someone falsely accuses you…etc some other times, the reason might not be obvious like breaking the pen if it stops writing. As a matter of fact, this is not the direct reason because breaking the pen might be expressing suppressed anger of yourself like not preparing well for your exam test or not studying for that purpose. So, this is an indirect reason emerged from hidden, long-oppressed emotions of anger.

Make the appropriate decision and deal with your anger.

The reaction you take depends entirely on the situation you’re facing so identify the problem which triggered your anger and adopt positive choices to solve it.

- calm yourself

- understand the anger cause

- identify the best ways

- seek assistance

- be objective in handling the problem

- try to solve the problem and don’t walk away or avoid it.

- Don’t use the “blaming” attitude

- Don’t pout, sulk or mope

How to control your anger?

You have to choose the way that suits you:

1- Have sense of humor. Don’t be angry of trivial matters or problems which can’t be solved easily or momentarily and try to find a way out. Also, deal with your problem as a funny thing and always simplify it. Whether you pout or not, whether you frown or not, the problem has already occurred and your emotions will not solve it so you use your common sense to deal with it.

2- Exercising is one of the efficient ways to control your anger like swimming, jogging or walking. That’s why sports people don’t get angry easily.

3- Relaxation. Try to have enough sleep because people who don’t sleep enough tend to be groggy and a trouble mongers. Also, try to meditate and have a brisk walk once in a while with maintaining deep breath exercise.

4- There are other means to control you anger like adopting a hobby (if you don’t have one). Read a lot; take care of your garden or lawn. Discuss your anger with the person who triggered it or consult a friend.

After all, anger is just a state of mind where the angry person tends to see things blurry which hinders him/ her to observe the logicality of the whole issue. Sometimes, the problem is very easy, but when we amplify it, it gets bigger and tougher to solve.

How great Shamel...nicely layed out anger management tips...

Personally, I'm a control freak--along with having a natural knack for emotional breakdown/analysis. It helps to excise all those wise tips you've shared about resting, and exercising...etc..therefore and thank goodness -anger- is nonexistent in my life.

It really sometimes depends on circumstances or situation whether to surrender to anger...

Pick and choose your battles wisely I say.

Great Hub:D

Sharing Insight, again thank you so much for your support and I appreciate all your efforts to read my hubs though I know you're very busy. You mentioned before that you're anti-anger person and lesson is learned :) Have a great day.

While in the fifth grade, my teacher put up a punching bag in our coat closet for any of the students to punch freely whenever the urge came about. I really must say that it sure helped. I later found football and Judo all of these sports helped me. I really liked the quotes you have and the info on the negative side effects of anger. Awesome job, Shamel!

Having a good sense of humor is the best defense against anger... also when you do get angry... write, write, write... write it all down and get it out of your system, that's what I do. Writing poetry has saved my life!
