Ask Susan Peters Kirkland Super Premium Chicken Dog Food Review
There is a history of recalls with Kirkland Brand Pet Foods due to the rice content. Because of Kirkland Brand Pet Foods substandard manufacturing practices Kirkland is involved in a Class Action against the company.
There have been several reported problems concerning the use of beet pulp in animal foods, including potential swelling in the stomach, palatability, and plugging of the intestinal villus.
Potatoes are not a necesary part of a cat or dog's diet. Potatoes convert to sugar in the digestion process which could lead to other health concerns for your pet.
Natural Flavor from what? Natural flavor is usually obtained by using the manure from what ever animal the pet food company is trying to push as the "flavor" of the product they have produced. In this case I would say the "natural flavor" is from chicken manure.
Brewers dried yeast is a by-product of making beer.
Milk is not required in an adult cat or dog's diet and will lead to other medical conditions.
Total Score = Ol' Roy dog food, which is considered one of the poorest quality dog foods on the market, scored 5 out of 10. Kirkland Super Premium Chicken Dog Food scored 6 out of 10.
The life span of your pet should be at least 20 years. Your pet's diet strongly influences your pet's life expectancy. Always look for a quality pet food which scores 10 out of 10.
Kirkland Super Premium Chicken Dog Food - I consider to be a poor choice in pet foods.

Just switched to Kirkland Premium from Nutro and our 4 dogs are doing great. One is very fussy plus has sensitivities, this is the first food she likes and have tried a few high end high priced foods. Their stool output is less and firm. Surprised with the score as well. The listed ingredients are what attracted me to this food.
Susan get your facts straight please,
1. kirkland is not listed in the class action you state.
2.kirkland recall effected only 1 type of canned food, caused during the melamine scandal of 2007, of which almost every dog food manufacturer including royal canine was effected . This was no fault of any pet food manufacturer as it was caused by a chiniese distributer using melamine to falsify protien analysis reports, as you may remember this scandel eventually made it to human consumed milk before the root source was discovered.
3. extra goodies, if you look carefully at the list of ingedients you will find that it contains many vegitables andf herbs that are normally only food in ultra priemium dog food eg. chickory kelp peas and carrots and many more.
4. Lastly chicken fat, while being given a bad rap, mostly by people who believe any animal source of fat is bad, chicken fat is one of the few fats, that is not used in human commercial food production, this means the quality is actually better than most other types of vegitable or animal fats because, in the case of those other fats only what is deemed no good for humans is processed for pet food, eg. used resaurant oil lard or vegitable oil.
So From my point of view this dog food actually scores a 10/10. I think you were a bit rough on this brand....
I think you need to reconsider what is written here. I switched to Kirkland from Nutro...dogs doing better and the price is almost half. You can afford top quality food at a price that is lower than most of the cheapest. Check out this site: http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/dog-food-rating Non biased comparison of dog foods, I think you will be surprised.
