The pet food recalls of 2007 have come and gone cats and dogs continue to become ill and die due to the pet food ingredients.

Pet food producers are using ingredients unfit for human consumption which are killing our pets. The ingredients in pet food must be changed!

The use of Corn, Wheat, and Soy are causing such awful conditions in pets including:

  • Dry and itchy skin
  • Fever
  • Ear aches
  • Ear infections
  • Hot Spots on the skin
  • Bad breath
  • Dental disease
  • Hair loss
  • Sore feet
  • Abnormal nail growth
  • Bloat
  • Weight gain
  • Tumors
  • Moles and warts
  • Seizures
  • Blindness
  • Deafness
  • Heart conditions
  • Kidney conditions
  • Liver conditions
  • Early pet death

These companies need to be held accountable for the injuries to our pets and our best friends early deaths! - Susan Peters

Hi Susan,

Thanks for all of your work on pet food and the recall! Do you know if Kirkland's dry dog food is safe? We feed our dog the Kirkland dry food and Pedigree wet. I know the Pedigree is fine as it's not made with melamine.

Thanks!!

So far the Kirkland's dry is NOT on the recall list. Check the list on the bag for rice protein. This is what the recall is based on.

Thanks, Susan. Yesterday, I noticed that Costco stopped selling wet dog food in San Francisco; they used to sell Pedigree wet food. I know it's not on the recall list, but they must be worried about the risk. Thanks for the response!

Makes you wonder, dosn't it? I've heard some compaints about Pedigree but no recalls as of yet.

Costco recalled the Kirkland Signature Canned Dog food, but the individual warehouses are not saying much beyond admitting it's been recalled.

If you live in a smaller town don't wait for Costco to tell you, be proactive as they won't let you know. Notify your local TV stations and get the word out before your dogs/cats get sick!!!

Jann, you are right. Let the world know! I live in a smaller town ... the products from the March recall are still on the shelves!

Hi everyone! In my opinion, the dry foods should all be tested, also, Why is it ok to feed our babies these horrible foods containing by products antway? We have 4 dogs. why cant the companies do the moral thing. My poor dogs were eating all that stuff. all these years . I feel really sad and stupid! How di we know what is safe if all the pacages lie?

We use to feed the kirkland signatures chicken and rice dry food. With all these recalls {even though the dry food is not part of the recall YET } we switched over to home made raw. At least we know more about the food we are feeding if we make it ourselves.

It is extremely scarey to imagine this many companies and this many country's being affected. My sympathies with all the pets and their owners involved!

I am using A KIRLAND SAMLL BREED DOG FOOD for my CHIHUAHUAS any ingredients in this not g for them?

Cindy,

Given the history of recalls associated with Kirkland and the Class Action filed against the company for pet deaths and illnesses I would not feed this product to my pets.

Getting a list of ingredients for Kirkland is difficult since Kirkland does not publish that list. If you have a label and could send a picture of the ingredients to me or type them out in an email I'd be more than happy to do a full review.

This is the only review I have for Kirkland http://hubpages.com/hub/Dog-Food-Review-Dog-Food-C

Actuallly, Costco had an independant test done of the Kirkland brand dog foods they sell and they came up with no problems and they are premium dog foods made by Diamond.

Wal Mart does not care and just sells what the suppliers give them without testing tthem and then when you have a problem they say take it up with the manufacturer.

Trust Costco, they are smart and have morals.

Hi susan, we have just lost our 7 year old golden retriever, it looks like she got poisoned by kirkland wet food, we are convinced, but we are gonna have our dog autopsied and test the dog food, we are heart broken, it was so sudden. Do you know if this food could be the cause? are there any law suits going on about this issue?

Any information would be appreciated.

Ursula
