If you’re buying new kitchen curtains the chances are you want it over and done with as soon as possible. They aren’t exactly the most exciting piece of furniture or equipment that you can buy for your home! Chances are you’ve probably been using the same kitchen curtains for years now and only just decided to get new ones, yet don’t really know what to look for. Kitchens aren’t generally used for entertaining but you certainly don’t want to be looking at an ugly curtain when doing the cooking so it is important to choose one that most of all you like. Whether you want a bright red kitchen curtain, a country one or a modern one there is always going to be one available for you.

For some reason many people leave their kitchen window bare often and it seems that they are often forgotten about. In reality a good curtain can add an awful lot to the overall feel of the kitchen as well as make it a bit more private at night time, especially important if you spend a lot of time in there. This is even more strange when you consider how little they cost to buy, usually as low as about £10 and are then easy to install. If you care about your house and how it looks then buying kitchen curtains for the windows in your cooking area is a very cost effective way of improving the look and feel of one of your rooms.

In this article I’ll be talking a bit about the types of curtains available to put in your kitchen, what is required by these curtains, how much they cost and where you can buy them from. If you have any questions at all then please use the comments form on this hub and I’ll respond as soon as I get the message, although it may not be within the same day depending on when I’m around.

Choosing a style

If I’m honest, most kitchen curtains will do the job so a lot of your choice comes down to your taste and style. What kind of decorations have you got in your kitchen and house already? Do you want a curtain to match these decorations or something to complement it? Do you want flowers, a plain curtain or

For example a popular choice is flowers or some sort of fruit such as apples on a white background. These help to brighten up the kitchen as well as make it a bit more cheerful and interesting to look at. You can just go for a plain white curtain which will still leave the kitchen bright but won’t be as exciting.

Types of material

With regular curtains it is very rare that they need to be cleaned but with kitchen ones this is not the case. Most windows are situated by the sink which is a prime place to be splashed when doing the washing up so they do require a bit of maintenance to keep them looking their best! This is why  you want to get a fabric curtain that is easy to chuck in the wash when it needs a good clean. Most kitchen curtains are fabric that can be washed easily but you should always make sure that you buy one where this is the case otherwise within a few weeks you could have a very unappealing curtain on the window! Especially if you’re like me and aren’t too careful where the soapy water goes when doing the washing up! Of course you could just be very careful but at some point the curtain is going to get dirty and need a clean so it is best to buy a specially made kitchen curtain so that you can clean it easily and it isn’t a hassle.

Cost of kitchen curtains

As I’ve mentioned, in most cases kitchen curtains are very cheap. You can buy them from all the normal places for home ware such as IKEA, Argos and DFS but there are many smaller shops that they are available in too. Because quality isn’t an issue in most cases you can try and get ones that match your interior design perfectly rather than trying to find one that suits your house as well as being of a good enough quality to last.

Most curtains for your kitchen won’t cost more than £15, and this should be enough for whatever you want to buy. Cheap kitchen curtains are available but for that price pretty much any curtain will be cheap enough if you want it badly for its design or type of fabric.
