Kitchen Gadgets To Make You Laugh Out Loud
77In case you didn't know what to get your mother-in-law for her birthday next month, there is a plethora of kitchen tools on the market, some of which I'll bet neither of you even knew she might need! From the slightly absurd to the totally ridiculous, these items are actually for sale - and must be selling! Let's go for a tour through the internet market of the strange world of kitchen gadgets.
Eatmecrunchy Cereal Bowl
The name is enough to cause peals of laughter. And you cannot read the marketing campaign at the British firm's website that explains in detail "how it works" with a straight face. As they boldly proclaim: Breakfast will never be the same again! I sure wish a simple cereal bowl could change the day's first meal at my house! http://www.eatmecrunchy.com/how-it-works.html
Apparently, there is a shelf on which most of your cold cereal will sit, allowing only a small portion to be covered in milk. This ingenious design will keep most of your cereal dry and unsoggy, until you are ready for it to meet its maker... er... milk. Why didn't I think of this?
Robot Coupe French Bread Cutting Machine
The price isn't funny ($3000), but the picture is so phallic, it has to be included. Plus, who needs a bread cutting machine that onlycuts french bread, even if it does slice up to 360 pieces of bread a minute? The French.... they are soooo superior!
Can you imagine the look on your friends' faces when they walk in and see that on your counter? Maybe it is worth the price after all...
Rolling Pin with a Ruler
I can imagine this might be useful at some specialized bakeries (*ahem*), but if my husband found this rolling pin in our kitchen drawer, it might raise eyebrows. The purpose is for the baker to be able to measure the diameter of pie shells, etc. But again, the design allows minds to run amok.
Hey Honey... want to get busy in the kitchen tonight? How about if we whip up a little "dough"?
Banana Slicer
Who knew that you needed a special tool to slice bananas? You know, they are really so difficult to cut up. Needless to say, this will only set you back about $3 or $4, plus shipping, and then it will sit in your kitchen drawer until you sell it at a deep discount at the next garage sale. Better yet... if you really want one, scour your neighborhood yard sales to see if you can come up with one for a bargain. Or, do like the rest of us, and use a knife. The picture is nice though, right?
Nutcracker (aka Ball Breaker)
OK, so people actually use Nutcrackers to open hard shell nuts. I'm just including this one because of its raunchy design. There are a number of websites at which you can find this charming implement. Butt (wait, did I type butt... whoops) your M-I-L may not be appreciative of this gift. Save this for your close friends or others that will get the joke.
The Ex-Boyfriend Knife Holder
The marketing of this device says it all. Just look at the image to the right. Whoa. Any questions? Just don't leave it on your counter if you have any hope of reconciling! But seriously, this should bring you and your friends a great deal of joy each time you put the knives away. Just realize that (hopefully) you will outgrow the gimmick someday.

LOL - it sure was fun putting this one together - thanks!
I just love the knife holder, actually I'm thinking that bread slicer could fit nicely on my counter. A bargoon at $3000.(not)
Great hub regards Zsuzsy
LOL. Neat hub! But $3000 bread cutter?! I'll buy the bakery for crying out loud!
I got a great bottle opener for Xmas - it declares "time for a beer" everytime you use - the other day I was in the kitchen and I could hear something electronic talking - I thought it as my partner's' laptop - but no the bottle opener was talking to itself!
Nice one Steph.
As you said - someone must be buying them!!
LOL - thanks for all the comments! Lissie, I forgot about the beer openers. I've seen a number of those. My favorite is a Homer Simpson one that makes the sound of a can of beer popped open, and poured into a glass while he says in his Homereque voice, "Beer..... Mmmmmmm!!!!"
Oh, these were so much fun! The French bread cutter image really does look a little naughty. And I believe that the rolling pin is a not so cleverly disguised toy. Speaking of nutcrackers, I gave one to my cousin at Christmas for a gag gift.
Steph, I was hoping someone would write a hub on useless kitchen gadgets when the clue was revealed - outstanding! =)
These are great! We actually had a nutcracker like that when I was a kid! I know someone who would really enjoy the ex-boyfriend knife holder. It's hard to believe someone actually thought up some of these things and got them mass-produced. A banana slicer. How lazy can you get?
Thanks for the laughs! The rolling pin and knife holder - well, I won't go there. But the banana slicer looks like something my mother would have loved (uniform, attractive slices for serving), and the nut cracker is like one Daddy had in a drawer! What fun!
Thanks Caregiver - glad you enjoyed a laugh as much as I did, putting this one together! LOL - and thanks for giving me a reason to read this one again!! :-)
Tee Hee. I particularly like the ex-boyfriend knife holder.
Its a good one, isn't it!? ;-)
Funny! Some of the things you can buy for the kitchen just make me shake my head in wonder! My daughter loved this Hub--she's a gadget-aholic. Always showing me something new she's found and can't live without!
LOL - glad you and your daughter liked it! I have a wedding shower coming up next month for a friend that sounds like your daughter. I am thinking about one or two of these items as a funny gift! ;-)
Thanks for the laughs! The EX boyfriend was both hilarious and a little on the edge of scary! But what the heck, if that's what it takes to get over him for some women!
Great hub!
