Don't use green

Kitchen colors should warm you ...mentally and physically....It is amazing to me the suttle connections we put with colors.....red is hot...blue is cold...and so on....green out side makes us think SPRING...and SUMMER....while if it is in the fridg. it makes us think....yuk..and who died.....or "did that green mold just smile at me?" So around food preparation areas green is not a good color....any sort of pink either....makes us think RAW something.

Earth tones are tricky as well....certain browns will make a dog owner hurl before you can say "Pooper scooper"... The interseting thing about all this is that in most cases it is subconsious....we don't even know why we don't like some color and others we do.

Kitchens ...in my opinion...should be light but not stark white.....yellows, oranges, maybe some accents for these, violet and purples to go with yellow, light blues and a careful use of green with orange. Earthy clay colors, terra cotta, some marbles and stone. Door and drawer pulls are a good place to bring in accent colors....lighting fixtures is another....brass rather than chrome hinges.

Kitchens are the center of society...a gathering place....anyone with kids....or who once was a kid...KNOWS that is where the action is. I tease people and tell them I could have a house the size of Alaska and my kids would be in the kitchen most of the time...and that is how it should be....

Happy painting

That's right. Green make the kitchen looks dirty.

I have just bought a house and the counter tops are light blue and the fridge is even blue. Do you have any suggestions for the wall color?
