If you love to knit for charity, join this group that helps infants

Want to knit for charity and help babies? Here's your chance. There are many worthwhile knitting charities that would appreciate your help, but today, I'm going to introduce you to Bundles of Love.

Bundles of Love Charity got its start in Minnesota where founder Mary Jo Prinsen lives. After buying a home computer in 1999 and many hours of surfing the Internet, Mark Jo became aware of all the charities there were many of which involved infants. After checking to see that there really were that many needy infants and families, she decided to use her hobbies of sewing and needlecraft to help out.

Bundles of Love is born

Starting with just a couple of friends, they began putting together 'bundles' for needy families. She started by donating just 5 bags of infant betting and clothing each month for the Life Care Center in her home town. As word of mouth spread the news about their donations, many other volunteers came forward to help make items, donate money, or bedding.

Bundles of Love Charity continues to keep growing. Each year volunteers donate their knitted items, which are bundled and given to families in need. They also have an annual fundraiser complete with dinner and silent auction of donated items. The money raised goes to purchase supplies so they can continue their mission of supplying baby clothing, bedding and baby care products to local hospitals, shelters and other social service agencies.

Their mission is to supply essential bedding, clothing and care items for newborns in crisis situations. They aim to provide correctly sized clothing for premature infants as small as two pounds and burial outfits for infants who do not survive.
