GOAL

This is a centralized public event to inform the pregnant community about different views and the many options they have surrounding their pregnancy & birth.  There is NOT an underlying agenda to promote any specific birth option, this event is to get the information out into our community so expectant parents can make educated descisions regarding pregnancy & birth.

The meeting will follow the structure below:

  • Introductions
  • Know Your Birth Options (presentation)
  • Q&A Panel (childbirth professionals answer your questions!)
  • Meet & Greet (of all the professionals attending including the panel)

Member of American Pregnancy Association, DONA, Mothers' Support Network, Better Birth Sacramento, & Valley Foothill Doula Collective

About the Main Host

Sara Hery is a wife, mom and birth doula. She had her first child in September 2008 after being a birth doula for 2 years. She has had over 10 years of experience as a doula, but was trained through DONA in 2006. She moved to Roseville, CA in February 2009 and struggled finding a good network for pregnant moms and new moms. The area is filled with mom groups yet it has been virutally impossible to find a central location for all birth professionals to come together for the public to utilize.

The goal of the ~Know Your Birth Options~ meetings will be to allow the public to meet multiple birth professionals under one roof to get questions answered. The meeting will follow the structure below:

Introductions

Know Your Birth Options (presentation)

Q&A Panel (childbirth professionals answer your questions!)

Meet & Greet (of all the professionals attending including the panel)

Her goal is to have an OB/GYN also sit on the panel in an upcoming meeting (in order to complete the gammit of professionals out there) for expected parents to listen to and speak with, and answer questions.

The meeting will be held from Lincoln to Sacramento in different locations on a MONTHLY basis. This will allow new & expected parents from many areas to attend these events and not have to drive too far.

She hopes this is a valuable and unique experience for everyone involved and asks for you to spread the word.

About the Co-Host

Jackie is a wife and mother.  She also runs her own business Milk & Honey Breastfeeding Support.

Milk and Honey Breastfeeding Support provides assistance, education and counseling to facilitate successful breastfeeding. I give physical, emotional, and instructional support to women and families as they nourish and nurture their new infants. You and your infant will be cared for by a registered nurse that has completed additional training in Lactation. I have clinical experience working as a mother-baby nurse at free standing birth centers and hospitals. As a working mother of two breastfed boys I can also share my personal experience in working out the kinks.

Milk and Honey Breastfeeding Support wants to be there for you during the first hours, days and weeks that are critical in establishing a healthy breastfeeding relationship. It is my joy to help you learn and practice behaviors that will promote an abundant milk supply and effortless nursing sessions for months and months to come.

Milk and Honey Breastfeeding Support educates parents on normal newborn physiology, behaviors and characteristics, but never diagnose or treat medical situations. I know when to refer to qualified medical professionals for situations beyond my scope of practice. I support my clients in finding answers and solutions.
