Knowing and Achieving What You Desire In Life
52Most people never truly think about what they want in their lives. Many times they may think they want a fast car or larger home, but rarely do they truly think about WHAT they want in their lives. They live without this knowledge or any sense of forethought and become victims of their own circumstance. Work is only about a job and the goal is merely to get by financially. Life becomes a series of issues like choosing to live somewhere because the rent is cheap or never understanding how to be in relationships or becoming ineffectual parents (as a result). The list goes on for a while. Within yourself there is a craving for more. Is it substance, contact or a deeper understanding of life? No one has ever introduced such people to theconcept of endless possibility. “As a man thinketh, so is he.” A major key to manifesting the life you want is to ponder what you want out of life. What is it that you want to do with your life? A good exercise is to take a piece of paper and write down the answers to the following questions:
What is my deepest desire?
What would I like to accomplish in my life?
What would I like to accomplish this year?
Where would I like to be in 5 years?
Where would I like to be in 20 years?
What am I good at?
Look into all areas of your life:
- Your profession
- Your relationships
- Your health
- Your financial situation
- How you have fun (how you spend your holidays)
After you have written down a list of what you would like to accomplish in your life, you will want to set priorities for them. Just take the list that you wrote down and give each topic 1-5 points. 1 being the least important to 5 points being the most. Now you have priorities in your life, which will help you decide where you want your attention to be. It is a simple equation: understand simply that you want to spend most of your time with the number one topic on your list. Spend slightly less time with the number two entry on your list – and so on for numbers three through five. There is no need to slice up the day in time slots. Simply by doing this exercise you are programming your consciousness to spend time according to your list. Let's assume you would like to find your life partner in the next two years, and that this is your primary goal, at the very top of your list. When you check your thought process at the end of the day and you find that you have not spent most of your free time addressing this goal, you have a misalignment, and you may never reach your goal. When this happens simply recognize it and adjust accordingly.
Working all day only to sit on your couch and watch TV will not get you where you want to be. It may be what is comfortable and easy and what you know but it is highly ineffective. You must take action to manifest your goal(s), for example:
- Take action by signing up for a dance class
- Book a weekend seminar on a subject that intrigues you
- Attend a workshop that focuses on your interest
- Spend time at places where you can meet people
Discouragement sets in when you assume that things should be happening sooner than you are ready for them. Remember – there are no unrealistic goals, only unrealistic time frames. So feel your discouragement and let it dissolve. Look at what you have done and realign your strategies. If one way does not lead to success don't give up at that point – simply try another. If you stick to a goal you will reach it. Sometimes you may push too hard when you just need to let go and take the pressure off. You doubt yourself at this point, believing there is nothing you can accomplish. Go to the place in your mind where you know you can't fail. Reading a book or watching a motivational movie may help to get you realigned with your powerful source.
