Koss Tugo Wireless Headphones with Integrated MP3 Player
Wires have been along a very long time, but lately there has been a revolution to ditch the wires and get to just wireless headphones. Koss electronics have come out with a new set that may just be what many people are looking for. This set has a MP3 player integrated into the headphone. This means you can be totally wireless and still listen to your tunes. Is this model for you? Read further to see if this could be what you are looking for in a unit.
Headphones with an MP3 player built in have really not broken any new ground and have failed to gain much in the headphone market. It is a shame, because the idea holds real promise as it lets you get rid of those cumbersome wires that seem always to get in the way when you least need them too. The biggest drawback to this all in one unit so far has been comfort and sound quality. No one has really made anything that has made anyone stand up and take notice. Now along comes the Koss Tugo to try to capture a market that for the most part is wide open for the grabbing. The first impression that you get is they are really no different from anything else you see on the market they look just like a full size set of headphones. The right ear cup controls the basic functions from volume, power switch, and play/pause and shuffle buttons as well. The MP3 player has a 512MB memory so you are not going be able to hold your entire song library, but some is better than none.
The ear cups are cushion with nice leatherette padding and they do have a good fit and are adjustable so they should fit almost anyone so that should not be a problem. They do seem comfortable and were a good fit. They do leak out a little noise at high volumes so if you do not want to bug anyone then keeping the volume down maybe a very good idea. The do block external noise real well so that is something that I liked about them. The MP3 player is not on the high end, but it performs well and I would have liked to have more memory it did the job for me. Most people read MP3 player and they start getting these ideas of being able to download a whole music library. That would be nice, but not for a while as they are still working on that.
Sound is something that many people have complained as one of the biggest problems with an MP3 player built into them. As I listened to these, I will admit I was impressed with the sound quality. I thought I might get a washed out sound, but overall it was not bad at all. In fact the more I played it the better it sounded. I think a lot of that has to do with the designed where the speakers are not directly pressed upon your ears. This gives you the opportunity to listen to them more and hear more true sound than ever before. The Koss Tugo does offer very impressive bass response and nice mid level music as well. In fact I really cannot complain at all about the music that I heard through them. I tried a wide variety of music and it seems to play all of them very well so I have no complaints at all.
Battery life is around 10 hours, which is typical for a unit like this. Would have liked to see it a little longer, but we cannot have everything can we. Overall, I really cannot complain about the Koss Tugo as it performed well in all the tests and did much better than I thought it would. A more frills MP43 player would have been nice, but overall not too bad at all. You get the Koss name as well who has been in headphones for a very long time. This is on the mid-high level price wise, but if you do not want to have wires, hanging around you anymore than this is a unit to consider. Toss in the MP3 player and you have everything you need plus your wireless. I look for more of these type models in the future, as companies try to put as much as they can in a product. The Koss Tugo is not bad at all and exceeded my expectations that are for sure.

It is a great idea with built in MP3 player, the only disadvantage I can see is that they only have 512mb memory.
