Kris Aquino whose real name is Kristina Bernadette Cojuangco Aquino-Yap was born February 14, 1971.
She is a very popular Filipino television and movie personality. Aquino has gained prominence due to numerous endorsements, talk shows, and game shows.
She is currently part of ABS-CBN contract actresses. She currently hosts the TV celebrity show CNN together with his friend Boy Abunda.
His brother Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino will be running for the coming 2010 Presidential Elections in the Philippines.
Noynoy will be the standard bearer of the Liberal Party and his running mate will be Senator Mar Roxas
Kris Aquino, a Household Name
Kris Aquino is a household name in the Philippines. The young and the old, the rich and the poor, the educated and the illiterate, the city dweller and the country dweller, they no doubt knew who Kris Aquino is. And for many a good, and many a bad reasons.
First off, she is the youngest daughter of the late Philippine President Corazon Aquino. Her mother was the first woman President of the Philippines. Her mother was very popular because she led the world-renowned Edsa Revolution of 1986 that ousted the dictator President Ferdinand Marcos, thereby bringing back democracy in the Philippines.
Kris Aquino's father, Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr. is featured in the highly circulated 500-peso bill of the Philippines.
Kris Aquino's Father is a National Hero
Second, she is the youngest daughter of the late Philippine Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr., a Philippine national hero. Her father was assasinated on his return from exile in the United States of America. The murder of his father was the catalyst to the EDSA People Power Revolution, a mass uprising that toppled the dictatorship government of the then President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos, which also resulted to her mother's installation as a President of the Republic of the Philippines.
Kris Aquino and the Cojuanco Clan
Third, Kris Aquino is a member of the wealthy Cojuanco clan from the Tarlac Province. They own a big (more than 6,000 hectares) sugar plantation estate called Hacienda Luisita. The Cojuancos have been criticized for refusing to let go of their ownership of the estate as part of the land reform program in the Philippines, where lands are being redistributed to poor farmers.
Also, her uncles either own or control big businesses in the Philippines.
Fourth, she entered the Philippine show business and she currently hold a lot of superlative titles.
I could possibly write at least twenty good reasons why she's so popular without consulting the Google Search Engine but it could become so boring and so let's go down to the "bad" reasons.
First of all, when she joined the show business, it was news all over the Philippines that her mother Corazon Aquino, who was then the president, had negative feelings about it. She didn't want her daughter to enter the showbiz.
Second, Kris Aquino got involved with Philip Salvador, a co-star in one of her movies. Philip is a married man and so they could not marry and went into a live-in partnership. Imagine the impact of this on her devout Christian family. Kris was impregnated and gave birth to baby boy.
Third, after Philip comes another controversial love affair. She got involved again with a married man, by the name of Alvin Patrimonio, a PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) basketball star.
Fourth, after two scandalous love relationships was a third relationship with a married man, Joey Marquez, another PBA basketball star.

I agree with what LADY said, Kris Aquino should keep her mouth shut and stop talking about her brother Noynoy Aquino, who is running for the coming May 2010 presidential elections. Instead of boosting Noynoy's chances, she's just dragging him down. Imagine saying on national TV that you're the one supporting Noynoy, including his groceries. You're telling everyone that Noynoy can't even stand on his own feet. Is that good for someone seeking the presidency?
