Krups Moka Brew is very popular with them...

In the coffee world, moka brew is to the Germans what espresso is to the Italians. The Moka Brew was introduced by Krups, a German based company that has been making kitchen appliances since 1846, to the German market in the 1960s as the Krups T8 coffee machine.

Since then, it has been one of the most popular appliances that can be found in many German homes. This popular coffee machine has now reached North American shores and was renamed the Krups F468, otherwise known as the Krups Moka Brew.

Look and feel of Krups Moka Brew

At first glance, the Krups Moka Brew is a moka coffee maker that is full of style and soon you will realize, after tasting your moka coffee, that it is full of substance as well. Style and substance – two qualities that you can expect from any Krups appliance.

The Krups Moka Brew is a stylish, 8 cup brewer that features a Moka brewing system, a fist of its kind.

Poor man espresso

Moka coffee is often referred to as the “poor man’s espresso”. It is not exactly espresso but it gives you a rich, thick, flavorful brew similar to the espresso at a fraction of the cost of using a traditional espresso machine.

The flavor of moka coffee is somewhat of a mix between drip coffee and espresso.

The difference between making moka brew and espresso is that a moka brewer such as the Krups Moka produces coffee using only steam’s natural pressure whereas in order to produce espresso you’ll need an espresso machine that can produce very high pressure at high temperatures.

Steamed powered Moka brew

The Krups Moka Brew uses steam’s natural pressure to extract a rich, intense-flavored coffee. Water is heated from the reservoir at the bottom of the brewer.

When the water is hot enough, it produces steam bubbles which force the hot water to rise up to the chamber and travel up the tubes, into the filter basket found at the top of the carafe.

By this time water will have enough pressure to force through the coffee grinds and extract the moka coffee. Because of this low pressure steam brewing process, water temperature will always be at least 195-200F which is generally the ideal temperature for brewing coffee.

Moreover, this Krups coffee maker features a specially designed aroma-saving filter to preserve coffee aroma and maximize flavor. Total brewing time using the Krups Moka takes approximately 7 minutes, longer than the usual brew time for coffee but the flavor is definitely well worth the wait.

Conclusion

For coffee enthusiasts who want the flavor of espresso without having to make a dent in their wallets, the Krups Moka Brew is definitely the way to go.
