LCD Screens - The Evolution Times
53
1998
In 2009 we take for granted wide-LCD screens that are easier to look at and provide higher resolution images.
The fact is that it's just during the last decade that LCD screens have become affordable and widespread in use.
In 1998 -- just over 10 Years ago CRT monitors were the most common screens to use.
2004
I purchased the first LCD screen I had in 2003. It was just over 14" in size and cost $1,500.
LCD screens started becoming popular around this time.
But 18" or higher screens where unheard of and cost thousands of dollars when these were released for the first time.
2010
Now it's possible to purchase an LCD screen from $200 - almost a tenth of what the price was just 48 months ago.
Plus the screens available now are much larger and offer an even higher resolution.
I'm not using a 20" LCD screen - something I could never have dreamed of in 2002 or earlier on.
In addition, camcorders and cameras have also dropped almost a tenth of the price since the digital camera boom started.
LCD screens are quite new even though most of us consider them a normal part of our lives. Don't forget that the technological evolution of what the modern computer - camcorder - and internet blog looks like is all compressed into about 48 months. Before then we were stuck with 2 megapixel photos - LCD screens as luxuries and less than a few thousand blogs existed.
In 2010-2012 all that could change again.
