Lax standards for school lunches leave children vulnerable.
This includes our children. Our children have the right to have a stable livelihood without feeling as a child their rights are not being heard! We as the adults have the right to leave no child behind. We further have an obligation to protect the rights of a child!
As leaders in this knew age world we have lost the true concept of protecting our future “Our Children”.
The “Leaving no child behind” concept was instituted for schools; however this concept should be implemented in the rights of a child that has been violated and removed from their home!
America is a land of many opportunities however we as a nation are reserving our resources for the future of our economy! Masses of billions of dollars are being spent in technology and preservation of our natural resources however we have forgotten about the many disadvantaged children walking on our very own soil.
A national study has shown that 1 out of 50 children are homeless in the United States (Reported in March of 2009 by the 2009 Publisher: Merced Sun Star).
Many other privately funded reports show that out of the 1 in 50 that are homeless 20% are homeless without any kind of adult supervision or guidance! With in these numbers more than half do not attend school public or private!
Yet billions of dollars are being spent on updating technology; fighting foreign wars; and saving federal institutions that have busted out.
Our children are our future and what we teach them now is what we our future will be tomorrow. What we have taught our American children is if you are a child of wealth then your human rights are protected; however if you are a child of poverty we will just leave you behind and allow them to be lost in a vicious cycle!
As adults we must stop abounding the children of poverty; we must demand that our political leaders implement stricter state guidelines in finding resources that will secure the stability of our future “Our Children”
As a country we must work hard to leave no child behind securely allowing each child their present and future passage to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness!
Each Child Human Rights Should Be all Of the American Adults Responsibilities Not Just the Parent or Professionals. We All Should Take A Stand In Securing A Better Future For All!!

It's all so crazy. Our western governments talk of human rights being denied in 3rd world.....how blind can they be?The greatest resource- and often least protected- is our children-so sad.I agree with James re 'destruction of the family'...but so much money on warfare and rescuing banks!!
Another great hub. If those who support "No Child Will Be Left behind" really cared about our children they would address families, homeless children and under supervised children. This isn't about wanting all children to succeed. It's about destroying public education. Proof of this is that even when schools improve each year it is often times not enough. Each year the measurement for success gets higher, making it easier for failure and harder for success..
Georgiakevin you could not have put it in the most profound way than the words you have written!

Hi,
When the "No child left behind" came out, it was to make sure children got taught what they needed and were able to move to the next grade with the rest of their peers. When I was 16, almost 17 in high school, my school was just bearly learning basic multiplication. To the best of my knowledge at the time, I was on track. However years later I found a copy of my IEP done the when I was 16. My grade levels were a shock. Reading at a 5th grade level, spelling at the 4th grade level and math at the 6th grade level. My question is, how can I be in the 11 grade is my abilities are that of a student in the 6th grade at best? And this was in special education. I spent more time in solitary rooms that I didn't know about till I was put in one, or being held down to the floor with elbows being pressed into my back till I am screaming. Was I violent? Heck no. Most times I was put in solitary or held down and hurt for trying to step outside the room to cool down, which mostly happened when I had a problem with the work and the teacher refused to help and told me to just do my work. Hard to do work you don't get and can't get help for. Or I am being slugged by a student next to me and told since the teacher didn't see it, it didn't happen and nothing is done to the student. So yea, I would want to quietly leave the classroom to cool down. Instead of helping, I was dragged off and locked in a solitary room for 2 hours, or slammed to the floor and put in pain. The things I know now, I learned on my own from the internet or books. Alot of it came from getting those spelling and math workbooks from walgreens and doing them. All I learned in school was how to lock someone in a room, how to take someone down swiftly, and how to put the person in the most pain without leaving marks/evidence. The "No child left behind" is a joke.

I appreciate your passion. The problem with underachieving children has its roots in the destruction of the American family and the government cannot fix this. It is a matter of hearts rooted in selfishness and our narcissistic culture.
