It is indeed a tribute to this svelte busty dancing vamp that she mantained herself not just in the saucy figure department as that was the source of her bread and butter but also in her stunning looks that gave come hither invitation through her hot pouty lips and and intoxicating eyes. Not adding even a pound leave aside several kilos for almost two decades in a row is absolutely no mean achievement and full credit goes to LEENA DAS for taking the special pains to mantain herself so religiously rather than allow herself to go to seed by taking her successful career for granted.
In a career spread across 17 long years LEENA DAS was seen in so many films that it became a Bollywood joke that LEENA just could not say no to anyone and thus she was eventually nick named LEENA DAS(I)!!!

Nice to C.U over here Kesarjee.This article was specially for U after seeing Ur requirement from Chokhalal in Kahan Gaye Woh Log Forum. Even I'm not too happy with the overall quality of pics considering what an absolute bomb LEENA DAS actually was. But even finding these pics was something that took me almost 48 hours.Even now I cud just find 3 of her videos even though she has acted in so many films in the 17 years that she was in films Check out pic no 4 that is quite a glamrous and figure revealing pics. Wonder if you have seen pics number 22,23 & 24 they are the fortunate moment when I got to meet and interact with LEENA DAS and believe me she was so absolutely humble, polite and down to earth even when she was at the peak of her career.
If you can suggest some link where I can get better pics or more videos I'd gladly love to post more n better pics n videos of our hot favorite gal LEENA DAS. Just to remind you, in Insaaf (Vinod Khanna) just before that song Tu hai, Mai Hun.....they had spilled beer on her boobs. She looks ultimate sexy may be like never before in that song. Unfortunately, that part of spilling beer has been later on removed and hence, that song starts abruptly in that movie. 1). First- Leena Das had nothing to do with Janaki Das who was a villin.Infact Leena was the child of a Bengali father who had shifted from Bangla Desh before the partition, and a Punjabi mother.
2).She was the Bahu of Mr Mohammed Rafi.She had married Shahid Rafi and had two sons from her.Whether the relationship still continues or not,I might not be able to answer the same.
3).Basically, she has acted in Kanadda, Telgu and Hindi films all as a Dancer.But a film produces in Telgu- HOSTEL GIRLS was the one in which she acted as a heroine.
4). Her BEST revealing film was the ONE which was produced and directed by TABASSUM- and the name of the Film was HUM TUJPAY KURBAAN.
5). She came into the film with a role in KAHANI KISMAT KI in which there was a voluptous dance scene that she did with Mr Arjun Hingorani- and not Prem Chopra.
6). Her last film was AGNEEKAAL in which she did a cabaret- TUJHAY DIL KA VOTE DOONGI, TOO KAR LAY PYAAR KA ELECTION,PAANCH SAAL KYA HAI, NAA TOOTAY SAU SAAL TAK APNA CONNECTION .That was the song
7). She joined a TROUPE in which Shahid Kappor was a singer.Shahid happens to be the son of late Mt Mohammed Rafi.She got pregnant and later they married and had two sons, however I would not be able to say whether the marriage is ON or OFF.
8). I had met this lady twice in my life- once in 1981 at Nagpur when she had come along with Hema Maliniji to hold some dances at a place near Nagpur to raise the money for building the Sai baba Mandir situated at Nagpur on the airport road,as I had interviewed her, and the second time at her place at Santa Cruz at Mumbai-when I had visited her to just meet her after our first meeting in 1981 for courtesy
SHE WAS A VERY SIMPLE, VERY DOWN TO EARTH AND A VERY WARM HEATED LADY.Being a HALF BENGALI herself, it was easy for me to raise many a question those I raised it to her for the interview, and she was very prompt in replying to her.She actually wanted to be a heroine but finished as a dancer.
She did not have a proper knowledge of BENGALI, and spoke in HINDI.That was LEENA DAS
She was a fully devoted a very PROFESSIONAL dancer-both on and off the screen

Thanks a ton for the additional information that you extended.I too had the pleasure of meeting LEENA DAS several times in Mumbai and else where so I can vouch irrespective of her screen image she was a very simple and God fearing woman who was soft spoken and even shy in her personal life.
I remember joking with her would she be actually able to wear some of her screen costumes and dance as suggestively off-screen and she actually blushed and replied with a shy smile.No matter how tired or hectic her schedule she was always polite to her fans and respected the media.
For your information Leena Das is no longer Shahid Rafi's wife as they seperated long back.I will definitely try my very best to lay my hands on the film you mentioned and put it here if I get the pics or the video..Wonder if you checked out my pics with Leena Das?

It's been almost 20 long years since she quit the film industry never to look back or even think of returning in a second innings.So getting her new address would be rather tough.
At the times when I was associated with her during they days of Arjun and Insaaf she used to stay with her mother in Andheri.Infact even when she married Shaheed Rafi there was a lot of opposition towards her and thus she was never accepted into her sasural. Eventually they did break up because of family pressures.
So where she has decided to lead her life is her own personal choice and we shud respect her privacy and desire to stay away from the line-light.However shud you still be keen to trace her old where-abouts you can always purchase a good film directory and you'll find her old address and even phone number in it.

Her birth day is November 19th.After my meeting with her in 1981, I use to everytime during Novenmber, would send her a birthday greeting card.
One such card purchased, which has her name scripted, still lies with me and it is twenty years that it is still with me
I wish to send it to her, and renew my old association with her.She knows me personally very well, and I felt that she would be happy to get it too.
She has some relatives, from her mother's side, who were in the film production and direction in a small way.But I do not know their's address.
Could you somehow kindly, HELP me out plesae.
I feel very sorry for the kind of the harsh treatment that the LIFE had to give it to her.She never deserved the same, and it is very intriguing to know that an actress of that down to earth nature has been treated so shabbily by the nature.
However she use to stay at Santa Cruz with her family when I met her last in 1989 at her residence, but 20 years down the line I have forgotten the address also.Hence this FERVENT request.
Even I feel so sad for Faryral for the shock that life had to give it to her.However in this matter Ms Sonis Sahni was too lucky.I had met her once at Jabalpur in 1975,and I shall write about her as I had spoken to her once.

In my professional career ,I had the chance to meet Smita Patil,Kalpana Iyer, and Sonis Sahni, and till the moment I had their adresses and they were alive,I always would send them a new year greeting card, every year.
This was also the case with Dilip Narayan sardesai, a cricketer who is no more and Eknath Solkar.
Thes were because of the REGARDS and the respect that I had for them.Even now, I have some JOURNALIST, Rajdeep Sardesai who gets a greeting card from me every year in the new year- and that is because again of the REGARD that I hold for him
Simply liking somebody and regarding them does not means that ONE LOVES anybody.I LOVE Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Salim Durrani like ANYTHING- is that bad.
The actual reason about Leena's connection is till I was in touch with her till 1989 through the greeting cards, I was sailing absolutely fine with my career.
After that- my career always has been a roller coaster and I belive some symtom of GOOD luck can touch me if once I attach myself to her-distantly or else.
Symbol of LUCK is something I have NOT been very lucky after 1989, and I hope it visits me-anyway- as this is again my MAKE YEAR or BREAK YEAR.

SO MANY A THINGS ARE NEEDED TO BE COMPLETED, SO MANY A THING IN TERMS OF ACCOMPLISHMENT ARE YET TO BE ACHIEVED, AND DO YOU THINK THAT A PERSON LIKE ME WILL HAVE THE TIME FOR ANYTHING ELSE BESIDE BEING FOCUSSED IN ACHIEVEING THE GOALS SET

Let me haste to add over here that LOVE & LUST may both be four letter words but there is a sea of difference between the two. Wonder why everyone gets so uptight at the very mention of Love. Being in Love does not drag a person down but actually makes one soar.That's why I say Never Fall in Love else it is just Lust disguised as love.If love is true why wud you fall and not actually rise in it?
Incidentally let me tell you that Kalpana Iyer & Sonia Sahni are very much alive. So don't put them in the catefory of those who are no longer alive(except in our heart and thoughts) like Smita Patil.
Beyond that I would not like to comment because when a person is down and struggling for survival then even a "tinkey ka sahara" is enough to say afloat. Being from the same profession and a lady at that, I have respect for you and that alone is the reason that I'm writing in to let you see who was using whom.
Before jumping to any conclusion I wish you had gone through all the comments between us so you would have got a clear picture..
Just take a read thru one of his comments that are self explanatory. First of all he assumes I'm from Mumbai(how he draws that conclusion is beyond me) and then goes on to state his marketing skills and how he tried to put them to use. His quote below:

Some correction and information.
Name of the movie made by Tabassum was 'Tum Par Hum Qurban" and her son, as rightly informed-Hoshang Govil was the hero and I think heroine was Roma Manik.
I saw Lashkar (Dev Anand, Javed Jaffery, Kiran Kumar,Neeta Puri, etc. 2-3 days back on B4U movies. Leena Das has a song in that movie and is shown in black one piece costume after the song.
Dalipji you can post those pics only with a scanner and I think you can do it on your own since scanning is not difficult.
I will try to upload an old pic of Bindu as soon as I get a scanner.

can you post the shot/scene of the movie-'Tum Par Hum Qurban" ,where Leena Das gets up from the sea,runs a few steps,and then start talking to Hoshang Govil in the movie.
If you can put it on a U-tube and post it over here,then it would be a great job done.
However,plesae do not take away the U-tube of Aitbaar or Arjun as those are marvellous.You can take away the U- tube of the other as they needs an replacement.

What really surprised me that after over 20 years, you remembered me about the release of the book,and informing me.
When I last met you at Santa Cruz in 1989, we were talking about the same, and I was constantly requesting you to write a book about cricket.
I had a dance scene in KABHIE AJNABI THAY with Syed Kirmani, and Shakti Kapoor, and during the shoot I had met Balvinder Sandhu, and a host of other cricketer who were dancing along with me in the film.That drove me near to cricket and that was the reason for which I had asked you to write a book on Cricket.
What really surprised me was- HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO GET MY ADDRESS.WHO GAVE IT TO YOU. TODAY WHEN I FOUND YOUR LETTER AND THE NOTE ABOUT THE BOOK, I WAS VERY SURPRISED TO NOT ONLY GET THE LETTER, BUT TO KNOW ABOUT THE RELEASE OF YOUR BOOK
You were a TRUE friend of mine.I had not listened to you when you had cautioned me about my marriage, and that would have hurt you.However-mistakes are only committed by human being and those are for the corrections.

The movie Arjun was released when I was just a boy. The memory I still carry was the excellent song 'Pal Pal Dhadkan..' and the classy dance by a beautiful woman. Recently, I got to see the vid again on youtube- and my heart lurched again. The song, lyrics, the rendition by Asha ji, the mood, the cinematography, the choreography, and the focal point of them all- the enchanting dancer. The song&dance still has that magical, lighthearted and seductive appeal. I'm surprised I did not hear about Ms. Leena Das earlier- her movements look so fluid, effortless and classy. I don't think I've seen anyone on the silver screen as versed in dancing as Leena Das since Helen. Surely, she deserved to be an even bigger name in Hindi film industry. Why did we not see her in a heroine's role? Clearly, she's more beautiful and talented than almost all of today's actresses.
Ms Leena Das, thank you for that excellent, unforgettable silver screen memory.
Have just stumbled across this post and read the comments with increasing amusement. Shyamal Bhattacharjee and his tribe belong in a museum, preferably preserved in formaldehyde. Sending birthday cards to celebrities is a pathetic, star-struck teenaged thing to do. Surely a grown man, even one with such an obviously immature mind, would not keep a birthday card for 20 years. Unless he were seriously deluded. Nobody with an ounce of intelligence would believe that, so it's quite obviously a ploy to extract information and not a very credible one at that. Plus, the post from the person claiming to be Leena Das herself is possibly from Shyamal B himself because it is equally improbable that the reclusive Ms Das would a)respond to his letter, if the letter exists, on a public forum, b)that she would further talk about her personal life in a public space and c)that she would consider anybody she met all of twice in her entire life a true friend who "cautioned" her about her marriage.
Shyamal B has therefore proved nothing except the very real fact of his own delusion. Am now going to trawl the rest of the posts looking for more comments from him. They have totally made my day.
Also, Dushyant Deb & Alok Chauhan - men like you exist!! Good God. Again, museum pieces.
