LEGO Batman Series

LEGO Batman figures are not all that common because there really are not very many Batman LEGO sets. It would seem that the LEGO Group has not spent much focus on broadening the line of the LEGO Batman series since their inception in 2006. Although there are not very many sets based on the Batman theme there is very definitely a demand for these LEGO sets as evidenced by the prices tagged on some of the discontinued sets. For instance Batman's Arkham Asylum LEGO set sells for crazy money on eBay and Amazon.

Batman LEGO Mini Figures

One great way to collect Batman LEGOs without forking over the big bucks is by just going after the Batman LEGO mini figures.  Mini figures are the little plastic men / women that come in LEGO toys.  The mini figures themselves are very fun to collect and many fans enjoy having their own little army of LEGO mini figures.  A great example of this is the popularity of the LEGO Star Wars figures.  The problem with collecting every mini figure from the Star Wars system is that there are so many!

With the Batman mini figures it is not all that difficult to collect every mini figure from that theme.  There are only thirteen total Batman LEGO play sets that have been created by thus far so it is very feasable to own every minifig from the Batman system.  Chances are a quick look on eBay or Amazon will get you exactly what you need at a great price relative to other LEGO minifigs.

With all of the Batman LEGO fans out there it is a wonder the LEGO Group has not decided to released more play sets for the Batman theme.  The popularity of the Dark Knight film would have been a great way to promote LEGO sets, especially themed around the Dark Knight movie but it did not happen.  It may be that the LEGO Group saw the film as being to dark and not kid friendly.  Typically LEGO has stayed on the "G" rated side of things and the Dark Knight film was certainly not "G" rated.  Hopefully LEGO will reconsider this approach as there is certainly potential there to sell to older fans of the Batman LEGO series!
