LETS DO NOTHING
55BEEN TO THE PUMP LATELY
Let’s do nothing. After all doing nothing seems to have worked before. Before the entire American economy was hit by a nuclear implosion...we did nothing. While...Gas Prices rose into the stratosphere, we did nothing. Only when it was too late to do any thing did we finally decide it was time to act.
We did nothing as Texaco and Shell and Exxon, reaped record profits, and claimed entitlement to those profits, because we honor the free market system above human, life.
After all doing nothing will not hurt the members of congress, those elected officials who are suppose the represent the people of their districts, that voted them into office.
Those same elected officials who receive money form the lobbyist from the Wall Street, speculators, to keep their hands off the [Enron Loophole]; a present to the American people that keeps on giving.
They say those who do not learn form their past are due to repeat it. So it looks as if we’re headed; for the end of the Democracy that everyone in congress is always waving the flag of rhetoric about.
This country is already so far in hock to China that we have been forced to give up on the moral high ground when it comes to standing up for human rights.
We are so deep in a credibility gap, in the world of global finance that we come with our hats in our hands when we reach out for aid in stopping the economic down spiral this nation started, when high Gas price forced the exposure of the giant housing market fiasco.
Though this hidden monster was an economic tragedy waiting to happen, if not for the relentless rise in the price of gas; it may have stayed submerged, in the ebb and flow of currency for another ten years.
So lets do nothing. Like the news broadcast celebrities on CNN, say daily, at least gas prices are not as high as they were then, no not yet. But if we continue to do nothing what’s to stop them form going even higher.
When the gas price crunch ended we saw citizens on bus tours of, Big Oil Company CEO’s homes in protest of their greed. I guess when the oppressed of middle class, in this country tear a page out of the abortion protesters book of horrors, and start practicing open violence against their tormentors. Then some one will do something.
Thing is at the rate its going this country can not survive another attack against our economic stability, the three legged stool we are using to prop it up with now is very fragile.
But what the hell...lets continue to do nothing. After all when its all said and done we’ll emerge as a shadow of our former great nation, we once were, and our right to vote will be exterminated, along with many other freedoms we in joy, and under foreign government rule we may even see an end to the lust and support for greed in this country that speculators and oil company enjoy.
So yes. Why rock the boat. The price of gas is still low enough for some of us not to complain and not complaining worked so well before, Lets Just Do Nothing.

Well first, thanks for reading my Hub. There is always something we can do. Like I said in the Hub,the congress needs to revoke the Enron loop hole that forbids speculators from trading on Oil futures.
Like other commodities if a speculator decides to sell oil that has not made it to market yet for 20 cents more a gallon than it is currently priced, and he has buyers, then the price of gas can jump from $4.50 a gallon to $4.70 a gallon over night.
The other problem is the government gets revenue from the gas tax moneys the collect.
If enough people start harassing congress believe me they will do something.
The threat of losing the Enronn loop hole is what kept prices low for this long.
You make a very good point. Do know who I should contact to say something about it?
A web adress would be helpful. :)

I read your other hub you wrote a few/couple months ago about gas prices being back on the rise by the summer, to not fall for it etc. I believed you then and sure enough it is on the rise again.
I don't know that there is anything we can really do becaue it has gotten so far out of control that it seems the only outcome is the one we really don't want. Or is it?
